[edit] License tagging for Image:Chris thile.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Chris thile.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:07, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lyrics
Hi there! Song lyrics are generally copyrighted by their composers and as such cannot be published verbatim on Wikipedia. While it is certainly OK to quote a few lines from a song in an article about it, you can't just copy'n'paste the lyrics in full, as you have done in your articles on Nickel Creek songs. Have a read of Wikipedia:Lyrics and poetry for more info. —Stormie 22:50, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image tagging for Image:Chrissmoothiesong.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Chrissmoothiesong.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Top Chef (Season 2)
Please don't copy-and-paste Top Chef (Season 2) improperly. A so-called "copy and paste move" is a violation of the GFDL because it ruins edit history. If you can get a consensus to move the article to another title (and you should do so only if you can get a consensus on Talk:Top Chef (Season 2), you should move the article rather than copy-and-paste it to the new title. --Nlu (talk) 07:34, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Neversettleforless.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Neversettleforless.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Stub types
Please see Wikipedia:Stub for information on stub type templates. There should be at an absolutely minimum, 60 articles that would fit into the stub type in order for a stub type to be created. Also, images not under a free license may not be used in stub templates. —Centrx→talk • 19:49, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for the information, although I didn't create the stub in the first place, I just used it. - Thamusemeantfan
[edit] Violinist-stub
Hi - I see you have recently created a new stub type. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, new stub types should be proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Your new stub type is currently listed at WP:WSS/D - please feel free to make any comments there as to any reason why this stub type should not be proposed for deletion at WP:SFD. And please, in future, propose new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 04:09, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Thamusemeantfan! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. [edit] Image:Padmalakshmi.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Padmalakshmi.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 23:15, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Saralighthouse.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Saralighthouse.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Category nominated for deletion
Hi, I'm afraid that I have had to nominate "Category:Artists who have performed at the High Sierra Music Festival", which you created, for deletion as a violation of Wikipedia's guidelines against performers-by-performance categories (see Wikipedia:Overcategorization#Performers by performance, especially the subsection on "performers by venue"). You are invited to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 May 31#Category:Artists who have performed at the High Sierra Music Festival, but please keep in mind that this is a discussion, not a vote, and statements not based on Wikipedia policy or guidelines are likely to be discounted.
I admit to some personal regret here, as a fan of the festival and of several of the artists, but I still believe the category is inappropriate, if well-intentioned. Xtifr tälk 01:25, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Thamusemeantpromo.jpg
I have tagged Image:Thamusemeantpromo.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 12:52, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User:UBX/Waifs2
I noticed the userbox you created at User:UBX/Waifs2. Unfortunately, both images you used appear to be under copyright, allowing only for their fair use. Generally such images can not be used in userboxes or on userpages (see userpage policy). Sorry for the inconvience. --TeaDrinker 01:27, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Just noticed the same problem on User:UBX/Waifs, and changed the picture there as well. If you can find free content (GFDL or better) licensed material, you're welcome to change it as well. I am a bit curious why you did not create the boxes in your own space. I haven't followed the various moves of userboxes, so I am not sure what common practice is. All the best, --TeaDrinker 01:35, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The Radiators
Hi, please stop linking directly to The Radiators, which is a disambiguation page pointing to three separate bands from three separate countries, as well as one album. For the High Sierra Music Festival and any similar articles, you should link to the US band, The Radiators (US), thus: [[The Radiators (US)|The Radiators]]. As a side issue, it's generally preferred to have only one link to a given article from any one article, so really, only the first reference to The Radiators in High Sierra Music Festival should be a link. (But that's a much more minor problem.) Thanks, Xtifr tälk 19:06, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
