Talk:Stroke (engine)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This engine has a four inch stroke" means that on each stroke, the piston travels four inches. Bore is the diameter of the cylinder, which means that bore times stroke equals displacement.
A bit of correction here.
Since Bore is the diameter of the cylinder, the area covered by the piston is Ar = [pi*(bore)²]/4. Thus Ar times stroke equals displacement.

[edit] rating
I have reduced the "importance" rating from top to high as I do not consider this topic to be of "utmost" importance to the Automobile project ie more important than Engine itself (which actually is not yet rated). Malcolma 10:05, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
