[edit] New Information

This article is in desperate need of new information, if anyone would like to add any information to this article, it would be greatly appreciated. - HG707 19:21 22 June 2006.

where is the gum sold? Rich Farmbrough 10:04 29 June 2006 (GMT).
I second that notion, this article is HORRIBLE! We need way more information. JavaDog 02:09, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

-I found out some info and have add it to the article.--Muhand 19:46, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

I really think that the part "How stride gum was heard" should be re-named. The current name just sounds really weird/akward. I would do it myself, but I can't think of the correct way to word it. 69.121.67.198 10:54, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

=Slogan, etc.=huhujoho Is "Good for you, bad for us" used anywhere else besides the one commercial? If not, it's not a slogan. I'd say the slogan is "The rediculously long lasting gum", as it's repeated many times on the web site. Also, I'm removing the wikicomment that says <!--All these facts are confirmed and true. Do not delete!. --> from the article because the comment doesn't guarantee the validity of the information, sources do. (Especially after people edit it). If something is changed to something that is false, change it back and put your reasoning on the talk page. --ScarletSpiderDave 05:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Enigma 0Z 20:22, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Actually, it's on the website now too, on the front page, in a manner of speaking... If "Rediculously Long Lasting Gum" is their slogan, then the general sentiment "Good for you, Bad for us" would have to be a marketing campaign/MO of sorts...

I believe someone should add this as a secondary slogan: Stride Gum: "Spit It Out, Already!"

This is a real slogan, it is seen in the backgrounds of stride ads and on the website Masterhand10(Talk)(Contributions) 01:38, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Free Gum

I got it in the mail today! Well, I'm doing a project called, "What Gum Lasts the Longest", and I typed in 'long lasting gum' and found Stride, and I would really like to know, do y'all think Stride lasts longest? Please help me! Thank you all for your help. ~Roselyn Thomas

Yes, stride lasts pretty long, in comparison to other gums. Most other gums kind of taste gross after a while. JavaDog 02:09, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
I know this is late, but hopefully this article can shed some light on the subject: [1].

[edit] Edible Wrapper?

I'm not too sure about the validity of this claim, as I recently purchased a pack and found the wrapper to be quite inedible. Perhaps someone could give a credible reference as to this fact? Paradigm Shift 02:25, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Did you eat the wrapper with the gum? I'm not sure if it works, but I remember an old brand of gum that worked in that manner.. Forgot it's name though, isn't that a shame? JavaDog 02:09, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Update: I ate a peice today, with the wrapper on, and it did work, tasted good, etc. You have to chew for a while of course. I'm adding a picture of the chewed gum. JavaDog 21:41, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Ah, thanks for the evidence. I'll have to try this approach next time I buy a pack.Paradigm Shift 02:50, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
So there is still not a credible source for this? coaxial 22:41, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Is a personal experience and photograph not credible? Or is that "original research?" JavaDog 01:32, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
This all sounds like original research and has very little to do with Stride itself. Stride is packaged very similar to other gums, and if you were to somehow (unlikely) eat the wrapper it wouldn't be unique to Stride. None the less, I do not believe it has any place in the article. Feel free to add the information back if you find a crediable source. -HumanZoom 05:02, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

I personally work for Cadbury Adams the company that produces Stride gum. None of our chewing gum wrappers are designed to be ingested. We hope you will toss the wrapper in a waste basket and enjoy the great flavor of our gum! That is about as credible as it gets! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.160.155.100 (talkcontribs)

Even if you aren't supposed to chew the wrapper, it still makes the flavor last longer. --68.104.202.165 (talk) 20:41, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Please do no add this information back unless you cite a reliable source. I've had to remove it once again. Please see WP:NOR for further information. Thanks, HumanZoom 02:55, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure how it started, but somehow a lot of people think that its important to add the fact that you can or cannot eat the wrapper of Stride gum. What sets Stride apart from other gums of similar packaging to make it notable to include this fact/rumor? Kudos to user 65.160.155.100 for trying to shed some light on the non-editable status of the wrapper, but I believe what you did was original research which is not allowed by Wikipedia (see WP:NOR for more information). If I have misused this policy, please discuss it here and let me know. As of now the edit has been reverted. As of right now, I believe that it not a notable enough to include in the article. IMHO it is just a internet rumor which has gained a small amount of publicity via Wikipedia among other online sources. I realize that I have no final say on the status of this article, but I ask you discuss the matter first here before adding it to the article again. Thanks, HumanZoom 10:22, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Are there any citations or sources about this whole edible wrapper thing? 70.105.154.34 03:23, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Innovative Ideas"

This is clearly an advertisment for Stride. No gum lasts that long. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.118.60.156 (talk) 06:07, 14 April 2007 (UTC).

Yes. This is how Stride markets its gum. But it is important to include this information in this article and the I believe the following sentence (while not followed by a source) gives a proper foil to the claim. There are various other claims on product pages throughout Wikipedia that the makers of those products claim to be true. I think if anything, innovative ideas should be changed to something else (perhaps: marketing ideas or marketing strategies), but the claim still needs to be present as it is a important marketing point of Stride gum (what sets it apart from other gums according to Stride). HumanZoom 06:23, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Either way the article should at least mention that the gum's main selling point is its long-lasting flavor, which has long been the holy grail of chewing gum (there are SONGS about gum flavor being lost).

The most innovative idea I've seen from Stride is the way their packs are designed. 70.105.154.34 03:23, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Picture Quality?

This article's pic is absolutely horrible, i'm actually chewing a piece of stride gum now and i've been keeping the stride gum case in my back pocket all day and have sat on it all day, and it still looks waaaaayyy better than that disgraceful picture glamorized on the article!!!

seriously! someone should freaking change it immidiately.

Masterhand10(Talk)(Contributions) 04:04, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

I agree it was a bad picture, but it was all I had at the time. Previously no one else had taken the time to take a picture of Stride. Do you have a camera? It would great if you could upload a better picture. Thanks, HumanZoom 15:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Enigma 0Z 20:20, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

I'll try and post up a nice pic when I get a new pack (my current one is pretty abused).

I'm too lazy to take one right now. PS. the entire Article is a complete Joke! Masterhand10(Talk)(Contributions) 19:37, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I'm back and i took a pic and placed it on the article. Hope you like it.

Masterhand10(Talk)(Contributions) 20:09, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

oops. I'm new to talking on wikipedia... nevermind... Anyways. I've also taken several pictures. How could I upload them? Enigma 0Z 01:34, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Artificial Sweetener

There should be some mention of the amount of artificial sweetener in the gum. The front package lists Sorbitol, Mannitol, Xylitol, Aspartame, Acesulfame-Potassium, and Sucralose. It seems they have every sweetener known to man in there. The worst part is that Sorbitol is first on the ingredients list which indicates there's more of it than anything else. This gum is a sorbitol delivery system. Some kind of reference to artificial sweetener controversy should be included. Of course they're all FDA approved, but sorbitol does cause stomach problems at reasonable doses. A daily pack of Stride would very likely have you visiting the doctor.

You got any sources? Tomalak Geret'kal (talk) 04:44, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Where the Hell is Matt?

There is no mention of the internet campaing of the stride gum in association with Where the hell is matt?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.138.72.184 (talk) 15:19, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
