Stronghold Legends is a castle-based real-time strategy game by Firefly Studios. It follows in the series of Stronghold and Stronghold 2.
Unlike the previous Stronghold titles, Legends gives the player a choice of different starting rulers all with different troop types (including King Arthur and his knights of the round table, Count Vlad Dracul , and Siegfried of Germany). Other new features include the ability to play multi-player versus CPU controlled opponents. Also, for the first time, you can choose between different game play modes for online play, including death-match, king of the hill, economic war, and capture the flag. Stronghold Legends brings a new mythical element into the game.

A new feature in the game is special units. Each faction has different unit groups unique to the faction. For instance, if you choose King Arthur as your faction, you are given the opportunity to recruit Merlin, Sir Galahad, Sir Gawain, and many others of that legendary story. Most special units have their own unique skill, which must be recharged after they are used. Dragons are available to every faction. Dragons have a set lifetime until they disappear in a magical puff of smoke. All other special units remain on the map until they die.

The side of Arthur (good) has access to The Round Table, which can summon:

The side of Siegfried (ice-neutral) has access to The Ice Tower, which can summon:

The side of Vlad (evil) has access to The Sorcerer's Tower, which can summon:
- Sorcerer

- There are no more spearmen (but they are replaced by men at arms), horse-archers, light-cavalry, berserkers, thiefs, monks (of either kind) or assassins.
- Bandits can be summoned in the following ways:
- 1 they assist you from the woods.
- 2 they are against you after your opponent gets them from the woods or your peasants revolt against you.
- Pictish boat warriors are always against you in missions (except in some of the legends trail missions where they are sent as renforcements).

The side of Siegfried has access to:

- Stake Hurler
- Werewolf Launcher
However, when playing in normal campaign mode, the factions have a wider variety to the objects, such as Vlad using Oil Tippers when he hasn't become totally evil yet. Multiplayer Functions:
You may play online if connected to the internet with other players worldwide. You join a room and load maps. Set the rules, maps, and type of play.
Map editing: There is also a feature where you can create your own map using water features, buildings and units.

Within Stronghold Legends, a player can earn numerous awards for performing certain tasks.
