Stripped wire is to indicate a wire that the insulation have been removed.

In electronic this is often used to weld two wires together, a wire with a designated electronic component who can't be mounted on the printed circuit board or to connect an electronic circuit to power.

In the domestic domain, stripped wire is usually used to connect power on light switch, light, thermostat, heating devices, domestic AC power plugs and sockets, etc. To strip wires faster than with a simple knife, the wire stripper have been invented. Stripped wire is also used to connect loudspeakers to an audio amplifier.
