The striped boarfish, Evistias acutirostris, is an armorhead of the genus Evistias, found around Japan, Hawaii, Australia, Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, the Kermadec Islands, and rarely in New Zealand, at depths below 30 m. Its length is between 30 and 90 cm.

The striped boarfish's shape is similar to the longfin boarfish except it has a more rounded dorsal fin without protruding rays, and six dark brown vertical stripes on a whitish background, one of which extends on to the pelvic fin with the other fins bright yellow.

Juveniles have much longer anal, dorsal, and pelvic fins than the adults and are white in colour with a close set pattern of large black spots.
