Toy Review

In the Armada cartoon series, Grindor is partnered with the human boy Carlos Lopez, High Wire with the human boy Bradley "Rad" White, and Sureshock with the human girl Alexis. Because of bad dubbing, Grindor and Sureshock's names are sometimes mistakenly swapped.

"If you're not trying something new, you're not trying."

Bio

(From Dreamwave's More Than Meets The Eye Profile Book)

Grindor is the most creative member of the Street Action Team - and the most unpredictable. These characteristics are probably what made him suited to his chosen alternate mode as a skateboard, since his human friends are known to try a daredevil stunt or two for fun. Grindor (usually) enjoys these tricks, but his true goal is to help all his friends harness their creative energy to make their goals come true. Some scoff at the artistic Grindor's idealistic outlook, but there's something about the innocent, positive Mini-Con that makes people listen despite themselves; his uplifting message and bright outlook have succeeded in changing even some of the most cynical minds.

Grindor has unimpressive strength, but great intelligence and imagination. He tends to "think outside the box," which helps Grindor to come up with solutions that others may miss. Grindor is fairly agile in robot mode, and can use his rear thrusters for a speed boost in skateboard mode. He has small, low-powered missile launchers in this mode for defensive purposes.

Grindor is not a very good combatant, but his agility usually gets him out of trouble.

"All together, now!

Bio

(From Dreamwave's More Than Meets The Eye Profile Book)

High Wire is the ultimate team player. He's always got something motivational to say to spur his companions into action, he never fails to give credit to his team instead of himself, and he's ready and willing to work with anyone to get the job done. There are very few beings that don't enjoy working with the cheerful, ego-free Mini-Con - Grindor jokes that High Wire's pep talks could even convince a Decepticon to help out. The unwavering belief in the strength of teamwork is High Wire's driving characteristic, and it makes him one of the most popular and respected Mini-Cons.

High Wire possesses only average strength, but great intelligence. Although he doesn't like to think of himself as a leader, High Wire is very capable of motivating, organising and commanding small team-based operations. Although he lacks speed in his vehicle mode, he has great maneuverability.

High Wire's robot mode is slightly awkward, making it unsuitable for any gymnastics-type maneuvers in battle.

[edit] Sureshock

"Freedom isn't an option - it's a necessity."

Bio

(From Dreamwave's More Than Meets The Eye Profile Book)

More than anything else, Sureshock represents individuality. She prides herself on being a free thinker, and urges others - especially her human friend Alexis, whom she has very high hopes for - to do the same. This independent streak sometimes puts her at odds with the team-orientated High Wire, but the two usually use their differences to learn from each other and grow even stronger, individually and as teammmates. Sureshock doesn't believe in going against the greain for its own sake; instead, she just believes in getting all the facts and making your own decisions rather than allowing someone to do it for you. She has a deep empathy for all living things and is willing to fight for their freedom, and this sense of positive activism seems to be rubbing off on Alexis as well.

Sureshock is highly intelligent and agile, but lacks physical strength and resistance to damage. She is an excellent decision-maker, with an uncanny ability to sift through facts from different sources to reach the best objective conclusion. Her vehicle mode is the fastest of the trio except when Grindor uses his booster jets.

Sureshock's physical abilities are weak, but she makes up for it by being fast and daring when pressed into combat.

The Armada Street Action Team were repainted in dark colors and released with Sunstorm. It is not known whether being packaged with the Decepticon had any effect on their personality.

Toy Review

In the Energon cartoon series, all three members of the team are occasionally used as vehicles by the human teenager, Kicker.

[edit] High Wire

High Wire transforms into a motorbike. The larger deluxe version of High Wire comes with Kicker who can ride him in vehicle mode. Although still a Mini-Con, the deluxe High Wire toy cannot be used in the same way as other Mini-Cons or combine to become Perceptor.

[edit] Transformers: Cybertron (2006)

For Cybertron, the Street Action Team are recolored from their Energon toys and released in a 'versus' pack of two Mini-Cons; one Autobot affiliated and one Decepticon affiliated. The Street Action Team's rivals are called the Deep Space Team. Although as before they can still combine to become Perceptor; because they are released separately, Perceptor does not have his own bio.

[edit] Grindor

Bio

(From packaging tech specs)

Like High Wire, Grindor has fond memories of the peace they found on Earth after the end of the Energon battles. He had fully supported the formation of an independent Mini-Con state on the moons of Cybertron, and was a vocal booster of the Mini-Con Council of Sages. He believes that all Mini-Cons can and should live in peace, but he still harbors hopes that the conflict with the rebels can be resolved without too much fighting.

[edit] High Wire

This toy comes packaged with the Decepticon Mini-Con Blastcharge.

Bio

(From packaging tech specs)

High Wire and his team-mates on the Street Action Team returned to Cybertron as heroes after the Energon Battles. As a result, they were among the first warriors emlisted by Anti-Blaze and the Mini-Con Council of Sages to fight the Mini-Con rebels. He is reluctant to return once again to battle, but he also knows that - combined as Perceptor - the Street Action Team is the most powerful warrior among the Mini-Cons, and the only one with a chance of going against the Deep Space Mini-Con Team and winning.

[edit] Sureshock

This toy comes packaged with the Decepticon Mini-Con Backblast.

Bio

(From packaging tech specs)

For Sureshock, it's nice to finally be back in action. She's enjoyed the relative peace under the Council of Sages, but even the most exciting off-road courses on Cybertron don't compare to hopping from asteroid to asteroid under constant threat of enemy attack. Sureshock lives for excitement, after all, and there's nothing more exciting than penetrating deep into enemy territory to pick a fight!
