Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City is an animated television special from 1981, made by Romeo Muller and Fred Wolf. This is the second to feature the American Greetings character, Strawberry Shortcake.

[edit] Synopsis

Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City premiered on October 10, 1981. It chronicles Strawberry Shortcake's trip to Big Apple City (an obvious parallel to New York City, also known as the "Big Apple"), so she can compete in a baking contest at "the little theater off Times Pear" (referencing Times Square). Strawberry's journey, however, is in jeopardy due to the constant interference of the Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak, who is her only competition in the bake-off. The Pieman counts on his kohlrabi cookies and a little trickery to beat Strawberry and her famous shortcake.

[edit] Trivia

  • This special included the first animated appearances of the characters Orange Blossom, Lemon Meringue, T.N. Honey, Apricot & the bunny, Hopsalot.
  • This is the only appearance of T.N. Honey, who never appeared in any other specials, and made very few merchandise appearances.
