By modelling and playing with straw, our great-grandmothers have long ago started weaving straw and making wonderful artistic objects. As time passed, they acquired more skill in working with straw and a century ago, created a very specific art - the art of making - weaving the golden straw into pictures. By using and combining the natural colours ond shades of oats, barley and rye, these women have made a lasting impression in the world of art, unique and characteristic only for Subotica and its vicinity. This wonderful tradition has luckily continued to the present day and the weaving of straw is made more perfect by harmoniously uniting nature and the peace and joy of artistic creation.
