Stratosphere Giant

Stratosphere Giant was once considered the tallest tree in the world. It measured 112.83 metres or 370.5 feet in 2004, and is located in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, California, USA. The tree is still growing taller; in August 2000 it was 112.34 m tall, and in 2002 it measured 112.56 m. It is a specimen of the species Sequoia sempervirens, the Coast Redwood. It is surrounded by a large number of trees of almost equal size. To avoid damage by tourism, the tree's exact location was not disclosed to the public.
On September 8, 2006, a redwood named Hyperion in the Redwood National Park was discovered and is considered the tallest tree (and living thing), measuring 115.55 metres or 379.1 ft. This has been confirmed using a tape measurement. Two other trees in this forest were found to be taller than Stratosphere Giant as well.[1]
