[edit] Notes
- The episode's title is a play on Stranger in a Strange Land, the title of a 1961 science fiction novel by Robert A. Heinlein. This in turn was a reference to Exodus 2:22, in which Moses refers to himself as a "stranger in a strange land."
- The theme of Strangers in Our Own Land is the unease that some Native Hawaiians have had about land development on the islands as well as their lessening political clout, as Whites and Asians now make up a majority of Hawaii's population. These sentiments have been expressed by the Aloha ʻAina movement.
