[edit] Speedy deletion of Pandora's Box (song)

A tag has been placed on Pandora's Box (song), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

There is not enough information on this song to warrant it's own article.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

More specifically - an article that can only say "Song X is by Band Y from Album Z" is not really worth doing. Articles on individual songs have to demonstrate why the song is notable in itself - e.g. it was released as a single (and charted) etc. exolon 12:13, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

The most directly relevant point is Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria #8, which says that non-free images cannot typically be used in a list or gallery. The reasoning for this can be found at Wikipedia:Non-free content#Images, where it says that a claim of fair use must contain an explanation of the critical commentary present in the article. Since a discography is just a list of titles, dates, and varying amounts of data, the necessary commentary is not present there. The album covers can still usually be used in articles about the album, especially if that article contains a discussion of the album's art. (ESkog)^(Talk) 15:27, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
