[edit] Synopsis

A testament to the resilience of human spirit, Stories of Change is a real life documentary about the lives of 5 women aging from 16 to 60, coming from different walks of life, from different profession, religion and regions of Bangladesh. Different yet common in their dreams, these women face life's challenges with confidence and belief in their dreams. Knitted in 5 small shorts, Stories of Change takes us to a 6th story, unlike a cliché stereo-type, a distinct yet universal struggle of human existence.

Let's look at Champa, cricket bat in hand, as she walks through the steep paths of Rangamati or Kamala, as on a mist-laden morning in Sirajganj, she makes her way to her jewellers shop or Sumi, with camera pack slung across her shoulders, pushing her way through the crowds.

Some of these stories are individual ones, while others like that of Rokeya from Netrokona or Dipaly from Sylhet, tell us how individual struggles are transformed into collective ones. Rokeya tells a wonderful story of overcoming barriers and creating opportunities for others like her, while Dipaly's story remains one of strife, of pushing against odds and barriers, to hopefully rise to a new dawn.

Stories of Change travels through Bangladesh, through its hills, rivers and lanes, through generations, following the narratives of a 16-year-old cricketer to a 60-year-old activist. Together it attempts to portray a different picture of Bangladeshi women - of women who dare to dream!

Let us look at these trajectories of change as they chart their own journey through time.
