Store Standal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Storestandal is a small village in Ørsta municipality, Møre og Romsdal, Norway with a population of approximately 20. Storestandal is located on Hjørundfjord midway between Sæbø and Festøy.

As with many villages in such locations, populations have been gradually decreasing as living off the land is no longer viable in modernized countries. In an effort to increase the influx of people again, some villages are undertaking projects to modernize the local industries and create tourism. Storestandal is currently undergoing such modernization, with a new power station, introduction of wireless Internet and development of an Alpine Center for new residents and tourists.
