Stomorhina lunata is a species of fly in the family Calliphoridae, often misidentified because of the unusual band pattern in the abdomen, typical of hoverflies. S. lunata is an important egg predator of some major African agricultural pests, the South African Brown locust (Locustana pardalina), the more wide-spread Desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria), and the migratory locust (Locustana migratoria).[4][5][6]
