Stokelake Residential School was to be found on the A38, at the junction with the B 3193, Chudleigh, South Devon.
Stokelake was the senior school to Pitt House School at Torquay, and was owned by Mr. M.C.Spedding who was Chairman of Torquay United Football Club in the early 1960's. The site was quite extensive, with a main block, dining - come TV - cinema room, library, and dormitory block.
It had a class room complex, and large gymnasium as well as its own farm.
The school held 120 pupils at any one time. Its sister school, Pitt House, at Torquay, held 180 pupils at any one time.
Stokelake ceased to be a school when it closed down in 1981.
Pitt House School closed down on May 15th, 1984
