Stocksfield is a small, sprawling commuter village situated close to the river Tyne, approximately 14 miles west of Newcastle upon Tyne and 10 miles east of Hexham in the Tynedale district of Northumberland, England.
The village has a railway station on the Tyne Valley Line. It is also served by the 602 bus service provided by Arriva Northumbria running from Hexham (20 minutes away) to Newcastle (1 hour). By road Stocksfield can be reached on the A695 from Hexham or Newcastle, or on the B6309 from Leadgate and Stamfordham. The A695 and B6309 meet near the train station.
Amenities in Stocksfield include a Royal Mail post office, Esso petrol station, Spar, Newsagent, Hairdresser, butcher,Primary School and Doctor's Surgery. Stocksfield also boasts many sporting facilities including a cricket club, tennis club, and golf club.
There are several smaller villages and hamlets surrounding Stocksfield, including New Ridley, Broomley, Hindley, Bywell, Mickley and Hedley on the Hill. Royal Mail addresses for these locations can often show that these villages are considered part of Stocksfield.
