StockPhotoFinder

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

StockPhotoFinder is the first stock photo search engine, part of a growing sector of specialized or vertical search in specific markets. Search engines in the $2.5 billion stock photography industry facilitate finding visual content in the databases and web sites of independent image sources, such as stock photo agencies. The imagery found in this vertical search is differentiated from consumer photography in that it is intended to be licensed for commercial, editorial or personal uses in advertising, publishing, internet and other media. StockPhotoFinder.com, Inc., which is headquartered in New York City, was founded in 2004 with the goal of searching all visual content that is available for licensing via the Internet. As of 2006, StockPhotoFinder search engines index and access tens of millions of images and footage at third-party content sources inside and outside the U.S.A., linking users directly to the web sites of image providers. StockPhotoFinder searches a growing list of stock photography archives.
