[edit] Logos of networks

What you should do is work out how to make a gallery in the wikimedia commons. All the logos should be stored on the commons anyway. Each of the articles which use one of the logos could refer to the commons gallery in the /*see also*/ section.Garrie 05:54, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Channels

Hey stickeylabel, great idea about the Ch10,7,9 articles - but should they be called something else? They do not refer to themselves like that on air. The separate articles will be important if multichannels are launched next year. ~ Trisreed my talk my contribs 06:39, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Trisreed. I was in doubt on what to call the new articles, I originally thought of eg. 'Seven (TV)' and 'Seven (Channel)', however I wasn't sure if they were appropriate. Any suggestions for other names would be gladly appreaciated.Stickeylabel 06:58, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
I think 7 (television channel), 9 (television channel) and ten (television channel) should be used ~ Trisreed my talk my contribs 07:24, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure that this division is really needed. Seven, for example, already had articles at Seven Network, Seven Media Group and Seven Network Limited. Wouldn't it be better to keep the content related to the channel at "Seven Network", and move the corporation information you want to split to one of the other articles? Tntnnbltn 16:07, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

It is not just the corporation history that was needed to be moved, but also all network based affilliation and network history. The channel that people watch as 'Seven' really is 'Channel Seven' broadcasted by the 'Seven Network' owned by 'Seven Media Group, which is half owned by 'Seven Network Limited'. And to keep all information on wikipedia accurate, I think it is best to have distinct articles for all networks, channels and corporations. Also when the Australian television networks begin HD multichanneling from next year, it would be far more beneficial to have distinct articles. Stickeylabel 23:14, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
I agree, I like how it has been separated and it also allows reading the articles clearer as it isn't so cluttered with information about different parts of Seven's for example properties. - Mike Beckham 09:13, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Network logos

Please remove the network logos you have added to articles' infoboxes. Fair use images cannot be used like this as it violates fair use criterion eight. Thanks. J Di talk 02:06, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

I appologise for violating fair use criterion eight, and it was completely unintentional. All network logos have been removed from articles that I previously added them to. Thanks. Stickeylabel 02:21, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:CVG Navigation

Could you please explain what was wrong or which templates broken with the Transition to Div/CSS.--Dispenser 21:37, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

The issue I found with the Transition to Div/CSS was when running Internet Explorer 7.0 (See screenshot to the right), as the header of the navigation box is smaller in height and width, due to the increase in apparent cell spacing around the header. Also in the top section of the screenshot to the right, the text size of the body is noticeably smaller. I am not sure if this is an issue with Internet Explorer, as it may appear different under Firefox. I support a Div/CSS version of the infobox, only if the new version appears exactly as the normal/old version in all browsers. Thanks. Stickeylabel 00:17, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

You have done a really great job with all the TV logos you have been making, they are of top quality. You even got the WIN one perfect. --Whitehornmatt 00:16, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ABC2

My total first opinion is, it lacks independant references. There are no shortage of publications discussing television broadcasting in Australia. Every section in Programming could use totally different sources totally independant of both ABC and the governement. Without extensive independant referencing the article could only be a B-class article.

Note: preference should not be to use material from the ABC as a source. Extensive referal to primary sources and analysis of that material is original research.

For another tack try User:AndyZ/peerreviewer, a tool to do automatic peer-reviews.Garrie 02:17, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tiny (Kong)

Please change this article back to Tiny Kong. --PJ Pete

Is the characters real name Tiny or Tiny Kong? Stickeylabel 08:21, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Prime Television Limited

Umm, why is this article needed when we have Prime Television? Glen 09:15, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

There is a need for Prime Television Limited, as the old article contained programming, network, and corporate information in one article. The article was a mess, and needed to be sorted out. I have based the article structuring similar to other regional australian television networks, and added links to the corporation. The network page now contains the appropriate network infobox, rather than a company infobox. Thanks. Stickeylabel 09:26, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Changing of the channel nine

why did you change the channel nine programs from the listed view to paragraphs. it looks horrible and too compact. the list view was much easier to read until you changed it. its all in a mess now. if i was you i would change it back to how it looked before. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 149.167.221.138 (talk) 14:04, 3 February 2007 (UTC).

Firstly, please in future sign your comments. Secondly, if you want to view all of channel nine's programs in a list, you can just easily click on the link placed above the section, List of Nine Network programs. It is always best to minimise the use of lists where possible. Also, it is not a mess, it is grammatically and structurally correct. The paragraphs are condensed, to allow for readers to quickly view the highest rating television programs on Channel Nine, with the option of viewing all programs on a seperate page. Stickeylabel 22:29, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Medal of Honor: Airborne

While it is true that Airborne won't be on the Wii, you were wrong in the reason. Epic Games have said the Wii COULD use Unreal Engine 3. Lrrr IV 01:54, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Please read Unreal engine#Unreal Engine 3. The Wii is incapable of Unreal Engine 3. Unreal Engine 3 was specifically designed for DirectX 9/10 PC's, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. There are no official or reputable unbiased resources that state otherwise. Please in future provide citable resources to back up your statements. Thanks. Stickeylabel 08:12, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Mark Reins said that UE3 could work on the Wii, it would just have to be modified. Lrrr IV 00:49, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Can you please link a resource to your statements? Preferrably something official. Thanks. Stickeylabel 05:22, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Australian television project

Hi Stickylabel. I was wondering whether you'd eventually set up an Australian television project - it's an area that will likely receive some benefit from one, and your knowledge of the topic naturally lends to driving the creation. However, might I suggest that you utilise the infrastructure of WikiProject Australia as much as possible. As a narrow project, it is better for Australian television to limit its maintenance responsibilities - specifically with regard to banner tagging and assessments. Having set up several projects, I'd be happy to help with this one.--cj | talk 11:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey Cyberjunkie, I totally agree with your comments, that we should ultilise the infrastructure of |WikiProject Australia as much as possible. I have made both Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian TV channels and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian TV shows. I have also made Template:Australian TV channels project and Template:Australian TV shows project. With reguards to banner tagging and assessments I have utilised something similar to Template:TelevisionWikiProject. With assessments should we use WikiProject Australia or Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian TV channels and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian TV shows? Also, it would be great to have your help with it all, so please contribute as much as you are able to. Thanks. Stickeylabel 11:55, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Here is an example of a converted article Talk:Home and Away, I understand that I should revert the WP:AUS template back, however should it also have WP:ATVS?Stickeylabel 11:57, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
I think the best thing is to consolidate the two projects into a single WikiProject Australian television. I've already added a capability to {{WP Australia}} for such a project, and assessment capability should be available when we implement sub-projects assessments soon. If it's ok with you, I can make the necessary changes.--cj | talk 12:08, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
That's a good solution, to consolidate the two projects into a single project. I have created the page: Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian Television, and will soon redirect the other two projects to that link. My initial model was very similar to that of the British television projects, however with less wikipedians and articles in Australia, two projects would be less useful. Stickeylabel 12:16, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
May I also add that WikiProject Australian television should also be linked to WikiProject Television and WikiProject Television Stations, as they are the worldwide WikiProjects.
Ok, as the consolidation is complete, I've disposed of the unnecessary pages. Good start with the tagging :)--cj | talk 14:23, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks again for your help :), tomorrow I will improve several stubs I have noticed during tagging, aiming for start quality. Also, is it at all possible to seperate "Channels/Networks" from "TV shows" on Category:WikiProject Australian television articles. Or do you think that it is fine as is? Stickeylabel 14:38, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Fine as is – it's not necessary.--cj | talk 15:16, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New stub types

Hi - two stub templatse or categories which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub types, which were not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, do not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding these stub types, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 23:44, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I agree that they should be deleted. I appologise for creating them, as at the time I was unable to find (Cat:Australia television stubs). I have added my comments at WP:SFD. Stickeylabel 23:53, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unending

I have attempted, just like you, to draw attention that the comments about the episode are not suited there. However, I do no think removing my comments were prone to turning that talk page into a forum. It would have been nice to at least ask me when you removed them. I was severely rebuked for deleting other users' commnents even if they were off-topic (eg: "excellent episode") —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.32.1.82 (talk) 09:38, 14 March 2007 (UTC).

I appologise for not informing you, however your comments were unneccassary and useless, when the issue could've been resolved with a simple template (ie {{talkheader}}). The current issues you are having with other users is not my concern, and it would be appropriate instead to talk to the individuals involved. However, the issue is now resolved. Stickeylabel 09:51, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] SBS primetime schedule

Just wondering why you updated the schedule to show A Royal Family when Black Coffee is scheduled nest week? Not sure how you have been doing it so I wanted to ask. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Farsouth (talkcontribs) 02:55, 13 April 2007 (UTC).

I have added A Royal Family, as the latest available programming scheduling available from SBS is 3 weeks in the future. I have subsequently used the future scheduling information. If you believe that it would be best to keep it to the latest week, please change the schedule accordingly. Thanks. Stickeylabel 03:31, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
I tried it but the table in the edit preview seemed to be reduced in width so I didn't add any changes yet. Farsouth 03:15, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Logo galleries

I don't understand the need for a completely different style and layout to all the other galleries used on Wikipedia when there is already a perfectly functional one in use elsewhere (as it is here). You said in your edit they were for consistency (evidently accross WP:AUTV articles, although I don't understand why they need to be different from everything else? timgraham 10:12, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi timgraham, the custom gallery was made to reduce clutter caused by galleries. Galleries are restricted to 4 items in a row, where as the custom gallery can automatically resize to various resolutions. Also, the custom galleries have less padding and margins, therefore more logo's can fit in a smaller area. Galleries are better coded to support acutal imagery that need longer captions, whereas the custom gallery is more contracted to suit logo's that need a short caption (i.e 1999 - 2003). Stickeylabel 10:16, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WIN Television Images

Why are you deleting my images there's nothing wrong with them it shows what is in the stations.--Ingleburn 11:59, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi Ingleburn, the logo's were removed as they violated WP:FU. The logo's are copyright, and must be not be used for decorative purposes. Logo's should only be used if an analysis of the logo is being undertaken, or information about the logo is being displayed. The article itself provides sufficient information for the reader with regard to station ownership and affiliation, so thereby it is deemed that any additional logo's would not comply and would violate Fair-use. Please add any missing affiliation or ownership information, if there is any, to the respective paragraphs for each section in the form of text. Thanks. Stickeylabel 12:04, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

Thank you Stickeylabel you have made outstanding contributions to television related articles so l give you a TV Star.--Ingleburn 09:42, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Call Signs.

Why are you changing the call signs on Melbourne stations like HSV-7, GTV-9, etc? If Channel Nine in Melbourne is just GTV without the 9 then why does the studio building say "GTV-9" and why in the credits in Melbourne shows do they have "GTV-9". Even on the finale of Quizmania they thank GTV-9 security. It should be set on how the Network names it.

I don't know if you live in Melbourne but HSV-7 is a big station over here, producing everything. Here they had "Made in Melbourne" specials showing production HSV-7 have done in the HSV-7 studios. Melburnians have grown up with HSV-7.. changing it to HSV is pretty stupid.. makes people thing of a Holden.. or herpes....

Even if ACMA has it without the numbers. That's just messing with the history and just confuses everyone.

The article's are for the station in general, not for the specific analogue transmitter. For example TCN-9 is Nine's Sydney analogue transmitter, and TCN-8 is Nine's Sydney digital transmitter. Also, relay stations are for example TCN-41. When referring to the analogue transmitter, you should say TCN-9, and when referring to the digital transmitter you should say TCN-8, however the official call-sign is TCN. Stickeylabel 05:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Okay well why not just forget about call signs and do what Channel Seven in Melbourne call HSV 7 now. Outside the studio and broadcast centre it says "Seven Melbourne".. And when I went to the Seven Broadcast Centre/Seven Melbourne headquarters, they said it's called "Channel Seven Melbourne" And that it's "a division of Seven Network (Operations) Limited". And they said that's the same with Sydney.. outside that studio it says "Seven Sydney" and thats what it's called, and not any callsign. So why not just call them Seven Sydney, Seven Melbourne, Seven Adelaide, etc. Instead of HSV, HSV stands for Herald Sun Vision and Herald Sun don't own it anymore. Fuck call signs. Having an article with a title "HSV" and then it being about Seven Melbourne is just so fucking gay. I remember arguing over them changing it to HSV-7, I had it as Seven Melbourne.. but it stayed as HSV-7 because of the "call sign" bullshit. But to be honest call signs suck. If the Seven Network say that Seven Melbourne is a division of them, then that means that the station in Melbourne is called Seven Melbourne. Call signs are just gay anyway and confusing, especially for an encyclopedia.. when people think of seven in melbourne and they want to look it up on wikipedia then what are they going to do? Do you think they'd know the call sign to it? It's stupid. It's like Nova in Melbourne's Nova 100's call sign is 3Mel. Who the hell would know that? It's fucked up. Just put HSV to Seven Melbourne and put "call sign - HSV" or something gay in it. Jamesbehave 08:36, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HSV vs. HSV-7

Hello Mr. Label! May I say that I hope you have already reconsidered your desire for aticle HSV-7 to take over the redirect at HSV. I think it would be apparent to most people that the acronym HSV is related to HSV-7 in the minds of only a scant few readers. However HSV in the context of either Hue, Saturation, Value; or Herpes Simplex Virus, are highly relevant associations with this acronyms. I have taken the liberty of correcting your article move; let's not let this degenerate into a "move war" and please leave the article linked to the disambiguation article at HSV_(disambiguation). ManVhv 21:55, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi ManVhv, I appologise for my mistake in moving the article over the redirect. I agree with your correction :). Stickeylabel 23:21, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, Stickeylabel; although no apology was needed. I suppose such occassions are to be expected on Wikipedia (being that it is so large and serves such a broad range of narrow interests). In this case, nothing bad has happened because you and I have effectively collaborated. Best of all, the HSV_(disambiguation) page may have improved as a result.  :) ManVhv 05:11, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Noted

Quite a lot of cat - to NA - whats the problem? SatuSuro 06:17, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Because they are being classed as "unknown class" by assessment bot. "NA" has been used for WikiProject Australia categories, therefore the changes were made. Stickeylabel 06:20, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair enough - the template ticklers need to be requested to modify the cat configuration inside the template so that it doesnt happen - as in the end cat is the more desirable end. cheers - its so unusual seeing others even bothering with cats - welcome aboard - fortunately there arent too many dogs around - a very complex pun that one :( SatuSuro 06:28, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] in exchange...

Could you please look at User talk:ScottDavis#disbelief and Montague Miller to provide a second opinion on whether he should be in Category:Australian atheists and whether a more specific reference is required? Thanks. --Scott Davis Talk 11:56, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

thankyou. --Scott Davis Talk 12:41, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
That's alright, I have expanded my reply in the past few minutes, as I believe I missed a critical aspect of the debate. Stickeylabel 12:44, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The O.C.

I noticed that you put the article up for assessment. I left comments on its talk page. It's now B-Class, Mid-Importance. It doesn't appear to be far from GA-class. Cliff smith 18:21, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and you should make sure that all images have fair use rationales. They'll get deleted if they have no rationales. Cliff smith 18:23, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for reviewing the article. I have now added fair-use rationales to all the images on the article. Stickeylabel 21:52, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Aussie TV

Hey Stickeylabel, In regards to Australian Television, I really did mean to help out more than I did, but access to my computer has been limited the past few weeks. Sorry I couldn't help out more on the article, but I'd like to say that you've done an absolutely fantastic job on it, you've improved so much! I do hope it gets Featured Article or, at least, Good Article status. GBenemy (talkit.wikibot) 08:15, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks GBenemy :), but I wasn't the only contributer, thank everyone! :). There is still a week left, so hopefully we can get it up to GA quality. Stickeylabel 08:25, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Stickeylabel, I actually had an edit conflict with you putting back the See also section myself, but I think we should remove all the articles which are in the template and add the following:

What do you think? Alec ﹌ ۞ 11:13, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

I think it'd be good to have Television and History of television in the see also section of Australian television, however, I think Australian television broadcasting, Regional television in Australia and Australian television ratings also belong. Also with regard to the template, I am still not sure if it correct to place Australian television in the header, as the template contains articles that soley relate to Australian television broadcasting, however with regards to the current lack of quality articles with regards to television in Australia, I believe your edits on the template are correct. Stickeylabel 11:23, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I will leave it to your discretion, feel free to revert anything I do you don't agree with on this article, I haven't been following all the changes closely enough to not tread on toes while being bold. Cheers, Alec ﹌ ۞ 11:27, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Aussie calls

According to the ACMA (see this example), the calls do include the channel number, and, I think, always did. The Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television Stations page has more discussion on this. -- azumanga 02:34, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

I already understand that transmitters contain numbers in their call-sign. The articles are for the stations in general, not for the specific analogue transmitter. Stickeylabel 02:39, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Immediatley revert the moves to GTS-4/BKN-7, NWS-9, ABS-2 and ABQ-2, and gain consensus first. Stickeylabel 02:49, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Callsigns/numbers

I've been watching on from the side (as it were) - you've been reverting the various changes to the articles which include the number. I'm intrigued - why? The name and location of the article makes sense, but I thought the introduction was meant to clarify what it was on about..surely mentioning the main/'real' callsign used by the station would be a good idea since people are already used to finding TV station articles at their callsign rather than call letters.

The reality is that the callsign letters by themselves sound very artificial - would you be able to direct me to the page where ACMA state that? A search on their website finds [1], [2], and [3] - which all seem to use HSV 7, HSV7 or HSV-7 as well as [4], [5], and [6] which all use HSV by themselves. In other words, there isn't any hard-and-fast rule.

Repeaters frequencies are an issue although I would doubt there would be too much confusion given that it's almost universally 2, 7, 9, 10 in each state capital. timgraham 13:17, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Tim :). All articles on Wikipedia should contain the article name, in bold, in the lead section as per WP:LS. As has been stated several times before, the articles are about the stations and not about the analogue transmitters. Also, here is the ACMA's official callsign list: [7]. An encyclopedia should be factually correct, regardless of colloquial or traditional terminology. For example, NBN Television considers itself a network, yet factually it is not. I hope this has cleared the issue, as I really do not want to re-start this lengthy debate again. With regards to Seven Network, great work :), the sections that you fixed tonight are far more clean and fluent. Stickeylabel 13:42, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationales

Thank you for adding those fair use rationales! I know it's an inconvenience, but I'm on my twice-yearly OMG-FAIR-USE drive. - Mark 08:11, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

LOL, that's ok :). It's great that there are Wikipedians tagging fair-use violations. If there are any other outstanding violations with regard to Australian television, just notify me. Stickeylabel 08:22, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Images to be used in Template:Infobox Television

I see you reverted my logo for SHH. I was always under the impression that logos were preferred over intertitles. I think someone told me that once on her but don't remember. Is there an official discussion on this issue or is it a rule that you go by. I hate it when we both contradict each other sometimes but it's bound to come up sometimes! --Lakeyboy 06:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Lakeyboy :). Concensus can be seen through the hundreds of tv program and tv series articles that use intertitles. Intertitles have a stronger rationale for inclusion in an encyclopedia as they are of low resolution and they provide a critical description of a program. An example can be seen at Heroes (TV series). Stickeylabel 06:34, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

I simply thought this was a case of people being lazy and just getting screencaps of the intertitles instead of going the extra step with finding and editing a logo of a show which I have been doing since I started to edit Wikipedia. I did notice that the majority of US television articles do have intertitles instead of logos. It probably doesn't matter all that much because the admins only question them if they don't carry a fair-use rationale. I also don't have a TV tuner card in my computer so logos are easier for me to edit and upload. I'll start a topic at the talk page for Infobox Television on this issue anyway and see what other people have to say on the issue because it is intriguing. --Lakeyboy 07:05, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WIN Television SA Schedule

You may as well get rid of WIN WAs schedule if your not going to include WIN SAs, as they differ by almost exactly the same amount of programming now since the Seven affilation has been taken on. Or just split out WIN WA and WIN SA into separate articles - I know WIN WA used to be in one. - Boochan 07:21, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Boochan, thanks for pointing out the WA schedule. I have therefore removed it as per WP:NOT. Stickeylabel 07:30, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please stop reverting my edits

Please stop reverting my edits. I am trying to be consistent and both descriptions go to the same place. Kathleen.wright5 05:02, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I am trying to correct the links you have made to redirect pages. According to Wikipedia:Redirect, you should not link to redirect pages as it is preferable that a link directs a user to the actual page. It is good that you are linking many of the station articles to the Television broadcasting in Australia page, however it would be great if you could instead use the appropriate link. Thanks in advance. Stickeylabel 05:27, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] TfD nomination of Template:Infobox PMP

Template:Infobox PMP has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. Jw21/PenaltyKillah(discussedits) 01:42, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Also, I wish to tell you why I considered this template to be of no use. Back then, I discovered almost all of your template's queries was the similar with the ones in Template:Information appliance, and decided to transfer the rest of its queries to the latter template. Then, I converted any remaining articles with the defunct template. I hope there are no bad feelings. --Jw21/PenaltyKillah(discussedits) 02:44, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Great work, and I agree. Template:Information appliance now adequetly features all the required queries, and it's usage in the iPod and Zune articles looks fine. Stickeylabel 05:06, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
So... do I get your permission for speedy deletion? RfD is taking a long time... --Jw21/PenaltyKillah(discussedits) 10:32, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Sure, I fully support the speedy deletion of Infobox PMP. May I suggest that other infoboxes could also be merged with Template:Information appliance? For example, Template:Infobox Mobile phone and Template:Infobox PDA are quite similar. Stickeylabel 12:03, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, Information appliance includes every criteria in the PDA one, but I'm not that sure on the Mobile one. I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the permission! --Jw21/PenaltyKillah(discussedits) 20:20, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Powderfinger discography

Hey SL, I have a few things. First of all, congratulations on your work and promotion of the timeline! It's fantastic! That leads me to my next point: I'm working on improving the Powderfinger discography to also become a featured list. We've done some extensive work on it of late, but I'd love an "outsider's" opinion of the article. I notice you're from Queensland, so I'd imagine you're aware of the notability of the article and its content, but was wondering if you could skim over and give us some suggestions (or even assistance) in preparation for submitting it for FLC. Once again, great work on the timeline. Thanks! --lincalinca 04:00, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. With regards to Powderfinger discography, the list is close to featured list quality. My only suggestion is to work on the 'Other appearances' table, by citing all unreferenced rows. Good luck, and I hope it will become a featured list. Stickeylabel 04:59, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks again! We're referenced all of that table now, and we've also nominated it as a candidate for WP:FLC, if you care to cast your vote/opinion. By the way, if you ever wish my assistance on anything (if you're interested) just let me know on my talk page. I'd be happy to at the very least have a look. --lincalinca 04:48, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Temptation 2008 ?

Hi Sticky,

You know a lot about Oz TV. I was dismayed to hear that the show had been dropped for 2008. However there is a comment on the Temptation page that 'cast and crew have been informed that the show [will return in 2008]' . Do you know where this was sourced from ? Do you know if the show is definitely returning next year ?

Thanks, RG. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.240.71.68 (talk) 04:26, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Not that I know the answer, but it could potentially be one of a few things: original research (even from a cast or crew member themselves, which isn't uncommon), speculation, combined sources or blatant fancruft. The best thing to do would be to check the article's page history, check who added the line and ask them on their talk page. If they're an IP without any other discussion on their talk page, then chances are it's an unsourced addition and would be best simply removed, or at the very least tagged with {{fact}}. --lincalinca 04:52, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Australian TV stations that need their own articles

I think that the following TV stations in Australia need their own articles, separate from the articles for Prime Television and WIN Television:

New World Man 10:40, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Please submit requested Australian television related articles to WikiProject Australian television's to-do list (link), where members of the WikiProject can create the articles. However, I have created the NEN article using information from the Prime Television article. Thanks. Stickeylabel 11:21, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
The WIN (TV station) article cannot be created as WIN is not actually a TV station. It broadcasts through a range of owned and operated stations through regional Australia. Auroranorth 11:25, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Oops, it seems I got it wrong. There is a WIN in NSW, but for now it does redirect to WIN Television until somebody creates it properly. Auroranorth 11:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WOW

Can you get a callsign meaning for WOW (including one reference)? I need it for the WOW infobox. Thanks a lot! Auroranorth 11:36, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it has any meaning. timgraham 11:55, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Tim, I do not think an actual callsign meaning exists. With regards to the infobox, I have fixed a couple things and cleaned it up a bit. Please remember that the launch date was March 26, 1999, and not March 27, 1998. Thanks. Stickeylabel 12:00, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh, OK. I read somewhere that it was that date, I am not sure why. Did you change the reference dated in 1998? I thought the callsign meant WIN of Western Australia or WIN Western Australia, something like that. Auroranorth 12:04, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:ABCGuideCurrent.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ABCGuideCurrent.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] FL Main page proposal

You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination recently. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1, 2007, voting starting December 1, 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1, 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual content will resemble the current content at the featured content page. Such output would probably start at the bottom of the main page. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:24, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] LOTD proposal

You have nominated a recently successful WP:FL. There have been two recent proposals to begin a List of the Day feature on the main page, which have both received majorities but have not been approved as overwhelming support sufficient to change the main page. WP:LOTDP is a new proposal to try to get the ball rolling based on the original proposal. You can voice your thoughts on its talk page. Basically, what the proposal entails is attempting to run an official trial, and then vote after the trial run on whether to change the main page. Support to run a trial requires much less consensus than support to change the main page. Should we succeed at eventually getting such a feature on the main page it would tentatively look like this. Whether or not you support an experimental trial or not you should come discuss the matter at WP:LOTDP's talk page. I apologize if you have either already voiced your opinion on this matter or already tired of hearing about it.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 21:34, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Featured List of the Day Experiment

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 15:35, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Channel 9 logos

Is it official that Channel 9 are adopting the "9 balls" logo for 2008? They have been using them on TV idents for some time now. Also, with the new 30px|Channel 9 logo you created, they are a few differences to the one used before 2006. For one, the balls are more closer together, and the inside of the number 9 is not as rounded as previous. Was this intentional, or do you know something no-one else does? Also with the color, for now I've never seen Channel 9 use that color, so probably adopt that royal blue for the time being.

However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 00:54, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Clogging up history pages

You seem like a pretty proficient editor so it feels kind of strange to even be saying this, but could you use the 'show preview' button more often when editing? The history pages of several articles (ABC TV and ABC2 are two I noticed) are clogged up by many consecutive revisions from you, in some cases several different revisions in the space of only a few minutes. It just makes navigating revisions a slightly more difficult and annoying task. Thanks. Nova Prime (talk) 15:03, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Another thing, I don't agree with indiscriminately changing past or present ABC TV shows to indicate they aired on ABC1, when many never did or are yet to. I've reverted a couple of changes like this that you've made. Nova Prime (talk) 13:09, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:NTD-8 1971.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

[edit] The IT Crowd (U.S. TV series)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article The IT Crowd (U.S. TV series), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of The IT Crowd (U.S. TV series). [edit] Australia television market regions

Hi,

I was just curious where you found the source information for your excellent "Australia television market regions.svg"? Would it be a good idea of adding the names of networks to the regions where they have licenses?

Thanks, tvc15. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.237.198.106 (talk) 02:40, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Abctvpromo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Abctvpromo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
