Was Sting made from Mithril? --User: Akajune

Someone has indicated that it was. Can someone provide support for this assertion? Tempshill 07:26, 4 Jan 2004 (UTC)
I went ahead and removed the claim it was made of mithril. If someone can cite support then feel free to change it back and note the support. When Aragorn and Gimli saw Frodo's mithril vest for the first time in FotR, they were astounded at the "kingly gift" and noted that Frodo had been carrying around under his shirt "the value of the Shire and everything in it". If Sting had been made of mithril, they would have been similarly astounded the first time they saw it, and Frodo wore it openly. -- Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons
I think a picture of the sword Sting would be a nice addition to this page.
I agree.

Moved from Sting (sword), for consistency with other xxx (Middle-earth) articles. The old history is still accessible. --Ed Poor

[edit] Gladius comparison

I've removed "It is also worth noting that the model of Sting closely resembles that of the Roman shortsword, the gladius" from the arcticle, as Sting quite evidently has a crossguard. ИΞШSΜΛЯΞ 09:02, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shelob

According to the Shelob article, Shelob doesn't die from Sting; her fate is unknown. I don't have time to change it right now. -Phoenixrod 22:53, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dagger or Short-Sword

Is Sting a dagger or Short Sword? It seem's a little large for a dagger. Carl Sixsmith 16:33, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Samwise's Ownership

I cant remember when/if Sam ever gives Sting back, but the article implies it is given back to Frodo shortly after his imprisonment in Cirith Ungol when we know Sam keeps it at least until the Ring is destroyed MRG 010 (talk) 22:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
