This article asserts that there were stilt houses in prehistoric times in the Alpine region. There was no reference for this claim.

Of greater interest, why were there stilt houses in that region? That region was not renowned for floods, as south and southeast Asia have been.Dogru144 01:26, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
