[edit] GA Status

The article has been assessed as a Fail.

The assessment is, as follows :

1) The article is far too short to even be considered for GA Status. Familiarise yourself with the requirements of the GA Criteria. You will note that Point 3 of the GA Criteria requires an article to be broad in coverage which this article singularly fails to do. I note that the article was created on 5 November 2007 and nominated for GA status on 7 November 2007. It is far too short and a sufficient period of time, say, six months, should have been left before a GA nomination was made in order to allow editors to reflect, ruminate on and source the article. As it is, the article is, basically, start class.

2) Rigelmann Boardwalk, Scarangella Park, James J. Byrne are all non-existent links.

3) The Lead is inadequate and needs to be expanded. Read Wikipedia:Notability, Stillwell Avenue should be included on Wikipedia, why ? The Lead needs to make the case for notability, Read WP:Lead.

4) The geographical co-ordinates, giving latitude and longitude should be included in the Infobox, something like :

Stillwell Avenue
Coordinates: 26°36′41″S 179°2′1″E / -26.61139, 179.03361

I have made up the co-ordinates but you need to enter the right ones.

5) Street description is written in bad English and is tedious. It needs a total rewrite. What notable buildings are there on Stillwell Avenue ? Which famous people have lived there ? What events take place there ? parades ? etc.

6) The original cost of building Stillwell Avenue is given as $331,500. Give and reference the inflation adjusted figure for the modern day equivalent.

7) Why is 13 November 2006 wiki-linked ? Remove link and rewrite as there is no need for a date in the article as it will be available in the reference.

8) Name the architect. The New York Sun story is dated November 2006 - a year ago. What has happened to the plans since then ? The section needs to be expanded and detailled.

9) Give references for the claims that the "largest rapid transit terminal" is situated on Stillwell Avenue and that it is "most energy efficient".

10) Write a new section the traffic congestion on Stillwell Avenue, this would bring together the need for public transport.

The article needs a lot of work before it can be re-nominated.

FWIW, a road cannot have one coordinate. It's a road, how can it have one location on earth? --Rschen7754 (T C) 00:38, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Also, articles can have red links... --Rschen7754 (T C) 00:40, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Dates need to be linked for date format preferences to work properly. That's a sitewide standard. —Scott5114 01:57, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

In terms of length, there is no length requirement; the article just needs to be comprehensive. --Rschen7754 (T C) 02:00, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
