    • I think it could have some encyclopedic value. It is linked to in Shock site. What do others think?
      • Should get more info in the article. Stile Project is infamous, and is most certainly due mention in any encyclopedia that has discussion of shock sites and the evolution of the 'net. -- Jake 12:06, 2003 Aug 3 (UTC)
    • irrelevant. Wikipedia is not Yahoo. Kosebamse 13:07, 3 Aug 2003 (UTC)
    • Should stay. Actually was nominated for a Webby award, which gives it some level of credibility and worthiness. SpeakerFTD 02:57, 5 Aug 2003 (UTC)

FACTS: There is no such person by the name of "Anjaro". Jonathan Biderman is an upstanding citizen of my Conservative Jewish community and he denies all connections with the porn site "stileproject".

  1. I've replaced speculation concerning the identity of Stile, as evidence was found on the Web. If counter-evidence can be presented (not merely a claim made by an anonymous poster), then the information can be reconsidered.
  2. I've removed references to the goatse image, which will probably mean nothing to most readers, and is more of an in-reference for Wikipedians.
  3. I've also removed two external links that were only to third-party sites, offering little of use, and a link to Stile itself (we're not a portal to porn; there's enough info in the article to let readers know what the site is, and they can find it easily if they really want to). People wanted a picture of him, and I found one I think. Its of an interview of him. http://www.killuglytv.com/interviews/stile.html

The reason why I think it is one is because on his site in blogwars his avatar is the same face. If people want to do the math they can figure out how old it is. I have no idea how to use wikipedia or put it on the main page. Additionally I think the page should stay, he has many pages now and is extremely infamous.

If I have violated anything please don't just delete but explain why.

Also Mel Etitis, if you believe the interview it talks a lot about who he is and his idenity. A quick search on the web will bring up another interview of him that he posted himself on blogwars and is much more recent. With those two interviews a lot more could be added about him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.184.121.100 (talk) 01:21, 11 October 2005

Lastly I believe the name you have on there is wrong. The name Jonathan Biderman when googled comes up with news articles and pages talking about PETA going after the webmaster Jonathan Biderman for posting something on his stile project site. Additionally you get articles about Camwhores and how it was a new idea and what happened because of it. Therefore with that evidence I think that Jonathan Biderman is the name of the ownder of stileproject and not the one that is currently posted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.248.3.169 (talk) 16:21, 11 October 2005

[edit] The true identity of Jay Stile

As has been mentioned several times in the past, the actual name of Jay Stile is Jonathan Biderman, and nothing else. The NNDB issue has been resolved as of today, so all sources should reflect his true name. Jay is a former member of ACiD as well as iCE [1], but I'd hate to be accused of "original research" just for knowing someone personally. [2] Instead, I provide you with these external references which have been available all along to those willing to do the research:

  1. McCarthy, Kieren. "Cat eating video causes mayhem", The Register. August 30, 2001. Retrieved October 24, 2005.
  2. Kahney, Leander. "Gruesome Movie Sparks Outrage", Wired News. August 29, 2001. Retrieved October 24, 2005.
  3. Kahney, Leander. "Controversial Shock Site for Sale", Wired News. September 5, 2001. Retrieved October 24, 2005.
  4. Rowe, Chip. "Free Speech, or Not? Part II.", Playboy Magazine, October 2002. Retrieved October 24, 2005.

All of the above links refer to Stile as Jonathan Biderman, his proper name. Too bad it took nearly six months to see this corrected on Wikipedia, but now it is done. Finally. —RaD Man (talk) 06:22, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] SPF/The Forum

It would be nice to give some information in this article about the online messageboard that is associated with Stile Project: now known as 'The Forum'. Back in around 1999 when it was known as the 'Stile Project Forum' (SPF) it was an intensely popular resource for shock material and links to other shock sites - in fact it was yet another resource for harvesting links for Stile to use on the front page.

In its current state it is defunct in that purpose; since the name change (SPF -> 'The Forum') it now attracts a different kind of crowd: one not so interested in posting new links to interesting or shocking material than it is in complaining that they've seen it all before, before going on to fill the rest of the threads in with meaningless +1 circlejerk sessions from the forum regulars. This could be attributed mainly to the latest upgrade from vBulletin 2 Gold to vB3: the 'reputation' feature has been converted into a measurement of 'internet coolness', and woe betide any red-repped newbie who dares question any facet of a post made by a newbie with a green bar underneath their handle.

It's still worth a laugh, albeit an empty one; but I believe that SPF/The Forum was an important factor in the extension of Stile Project to StileNET.

As for whether anybody cares, I'm afraid the answer is no.

[edit] Please protect

Can someone please protect this talk page? Every few days the same person comes along and blanks the discussions here, and then changes the article back to an unreferenced version full of self-promotion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stpr (talk • contribs)

That's vandalism. If the person does so again please feel free to leave a warning template on their talk page and revert the edit. If it continues add additional warnings as needed and refer the issue to an admin. Also, please sign your post with four tildes. NeoFreak 04:48, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
I think it is stile himself, if you check some of them they are done by JStile. He doesn't like the fact his name is out there, since he has been subject to a few incidences of fans stalking him. I do think some of the stuff that was up here (how it got started, his inspiration) and things that have been deleted are pertenant. When I wikipedia stileproject, not only do I want to know what the current page is, but I think myself, and many others also like to hear about the owner and why the site exists. IMO, how he started it in highschool isn't self-promotion. I haven't checked this page in a while though, so you may be referencing something else. -Ryan Rjkd12 22:19, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stilenet

I think the page should mention some of the other more popular stilenet items. While Stileproject and Camwhores are arguably the 2 most popular parts of stilenet, other parts such as BlogWars, StileMedia, and Doodledraw are also quite popular. I think it would be apropriate to at least emntion the other parts of stile net, perhaps in a table listing each section and a brief overview of what it is.

also i think that if nothing else, there should be a few redirects from those various side projects of his. Owenlars2 15:21, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

I think that is reasonable. If you have any questions on how to go about this post them here. I'm planning on making my way around to this article soonish. NeoFreak 04:46, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Are we forgetting his first side project, the now dead 'dotcult'?

[edit] More info?

I remember coming to this page before an it had a lot more info. Such as why he started the site, what it was like in the beginning and stuff. Personally, I came to this page to find out more info like that. After reading that I went back to his first few posts and found it very interesting. I personally vote for all that informtion going back into the article since I bet most people who come here are fans of his site and wouldn't mind reading a bit about Stile and how/why he has his site. Self promotion such as "He then started the best forum of all time called...." is a lot different than "He started the site to help end the bordem during highschool." The first "self promotion" shouldn't be allowed IMO because its POV, but the second one is interesting. Rjkd12 16:09, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I missed the Stile Project when it was new; the first half of the article gives the impression that it is an ongoing concern, but the second half talks about it in the past tense. Having had a look at the site, it just seems to be an anonymous computer-generated porn blog, with adverts for cock-enlarging pills etc. Was it always like this? Is it still owned by the same person? Is it purely an automatical cash-generating scheme? Unlike, say, Fuckedcompany, which is of similar vintage but still has original content. -Ashley Pomeroy 21:28, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
It used to be much better. He had very little advertising, updated it several times a week, and instead of embedding advertisements in all of the paragraphs, he embedded pictures. Plus, the paragraphs were more interesting and about his life instead of him rambling on about him using absinth or penis pills. As far as I know its still the same person, but from talking to them online they seem to be decently disinterested in keeping the site good. IMO he is doing minimal maitenence in keeping it good and interesting. I don't go to any of his other sites so I dunno how he is with them. It has expanded a lot since the beginning. If you want, you can go through his archives and see waht the site was like at different time points. It has changed quite a bit. Rjkd12 19:42, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Censorship

The only Thread i ve ever saw deleted entirely was the Thread "lemopn party".... Very WEAK for a supposed "i dont give a shit" Shock Site! Maybe Stile has an agenda after all.

With respect, I'm afraid you're talking out of your ass - LemonParty is still banded around the site's messageboards at any available opportunity; along with other old favourites such as Goatse, TubGirl and the infamous seed pod breast picture. Recently, lolcats and TechnoViking have all made their mark. You may have seen a thread entitled "Lemon Party" being deleted, but it wouldn't have been for the inclusion of that picture - more likely it was a completely useless, throwaway thread from some idiot newbie who had only just stumbled upon the picture.
There is no point in censorship on what is effectively a shock site. The two things just do not go together. The Forum is run by Nazi mods who delete threads here and there according to whim; but this is indicative neither of the content of the front page ("There's a front page?") nor the shock content contained within the messageboards themselves - generally mods delete threads to avoid personal embarrassment, random douchebaggery such as posting of personal details, or if they were bribed by naked pictures from the ever-present female members, who are generally attention whores.
Sadly, I'm not making this up. I've been a member of the forums for about 10 years now and have seen the site change throughout - though the front page never particularly interested me, there is very little in the way of content there any more - Stile has moved on to more lucrative things, such as CamWhores.
