Talk:Stigler's conjecture
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I propose this page should be merged with Stigler's law of eponymy.
I propose this page be removed. It contains no evidence that such a thing as "Stigler's conjecture" in the required sense has ever existed. Compare the case of "Stigler's law." Here there is a publication stating the law and the law has been discussed by other authors who have cited the publication. I can find no references to "Stigler's conjecture" unless a Wikipedia entry counts as such! All we have is a conjecture that Stigler produced such a conjecture and that he gave the "instances" reported. The instances may well be genuine in the sense that Stigler made these observations but unless he framed the conjecture there is no "Stigler's conjecture." If he framed the conjecture and nobody noticed, that's probably worth recording. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.113.225.40 (talk) 10:52, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
