Stitch! (スティッチ! Sutitchi!?) is the tentative title of a new anime project from Walt Disney Animation Studios. It is to be a reimagined version of the US animated feature film Lilo & Stitch and the subsequent spin-off series, and is is scheduled to air in Japan in October 2008.[1][2][3]

[edit] Development

The show is to feature a Japanese girl named Hanako in place of Lilo, and will be set on a fictional island off the shore of Okinawa instead of Hawaii. To date, few details have been released. The final appearance of Hanako has yet to be decided upon though press reports have quoted officials as saying that she will be "very Japanese". It is to be animated and co-produced by the Japanese animation house Madhouse LTD. [1][2]

At the 2008 Tokyo International Anime Fair, the pilot for the series was showcased for attendees at the Madhouse booth. Information was also shown around Disney's booth, showing the cast of characters who will appear in the anime. From the information available, many of the past characters, such as Jumba Jookiba and Pleakley, will be appearing, as will three villains; Dr. Jacques von Hamsterviel, Experiment 627, and Leroy. In addition, the two experiments that came before him, Reuben and Angel, are confirmed to be in anime, based on the information. At this point and time, it is unknown whether or not Kōichi Yamadera, who voiced Stitch in the Japanese dub of the movies and the Animated TV Series, will reprise his role as Stitch, or any past dub actors for the other characters.
