Z: Steel Soldiers

Z: Steel Soldiers is a real-time strategy game released by the Bitmap Brothers in 2001. It is the sequel of their earlier game Z, and follows the same storyline and gameplay. The graphics are changed from 2D to 3D.[1][2]
[edit] Plot-line
The original game Z had little or no plot to speak of, the sequel however was plot driven rather than having two sides fight each other for no apparent reason. At the start of each level you receive a summing of the current story line and your objectives of the current level, level objectives vary considerably compared to the original from "Capture Aircraft Hangers and Shipyards" to "reach the EVAC point within a time limit" After 509 years of conflict MegaCom Corporation (red) and TransGlobal Empires (blue) are set to make peace and sign a treaty, forces on both sides have reduced their military presence. The culmination of the peace treaty is the removal of both forces from the contested territory, Planet Rigal. Rigal is traditionally allocated to those soldiers "least" capable and have had 9 months cease-fire with skeleton crews along with all flights canceled in the demilitarised zone between the two forces. Captain Zod (previously Commander Zod of the original Z) however has been sending patrols into the demilitarised zone to spy upon the TransGlobal Empires, the scouts Brad and Clarke (which you may remember as the two robots from the cut-scenes in the original Z) have found a secret landing strip and promptly shoot down a transport ship after this discovery. Zod then sends in people to retrieve the two missing scouts and find out "what the hell is going on" in which they find a broken box with the word "Omega" on it. Throughout the game Zod and his men discover an intricate plot involving a spy within the high ranks of the MegaCom Corporation, "Omega" is the ultimate weapon able to pacify all MegaCom units and that the peace treaty is a ploy.
