Your comment on this articles AfD seems to indicate that you do not understand either copyright or the GFDL. Unless the author transferred the copyright in writing, the author is the only person who can authorize its release under the GFDL. The President of the Historical Society has not right to do so, regardless of whether the Society published the article in the past. That publication was surely done with a permission to publish and not a transfer of copyright. Also, you may not understand that the GFDL allows the modification and further copying in accordance with its terms. Only the author could possibly have the authority to grant this - it is well in excess of the typical limitations included in granting permission to publish. Ekajati 20:58, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
