speedy deletion?

STerry - I have come across a very nasty page. How can I mark it for speed deletion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Meredyth (talkcontribs) 11:13, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I found the page and read the text. There was a template to add which worked. Thanks. There are some very unpleasant people around. Stellar 11:26, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Consistency

Is the problem indeed - my thing is how it looks in oggle and popups the first line should have the main subject mentioned and in bold - and after that thats where the chaos creeps in - I need to look v closely at the WP MOS and lead sentence/ para offocial policy again - but remember these issues from the getting arts to Feature statis SatuSuro 00:58, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

list of Aust novelists

STerry - isn't this list interesting? I haven't gotten to the end of it yet but keep getting diverted on sidetracks. I am glad it was not deleted. Stellar 12:28, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

I saw your note on the literary awards, and agree - formatting the parent and child is a great idea. When I get back to the remaining Children's awards that structure will be very useful to display them correctly. Stellar 12:30, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
If there are lists it makes more sense to order them - yes, I agree. With the categories it is not possible to put in additional info. What is displayed is only the names. With the list pages (as in the novelists) date of births, titles of books or even genre are listed. This I think is more interesting for me. Categories seem to me to be like indexes - where you know what you are looking for. Lists are more for analysis, although the lists because they are manually created generally are incomplete.

I have noticed that there are not many articles on Australian crime writers or science fiction writers. Both these genre are lifelong interests for me. ... more work ... see you soon. Stellar 13:12, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Wilberforce

I didn't have time to drop you a note this morning, but my apologies for my mistaken edit. I thought I understood what you had done, but sometimes there is none so blind as those who cannot see! Sorry and thanks for teaching me a new trick too! --Slp1 20:29, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

ratings

hi, first off, congrats on all the work u've been doing! re ratings, good question, took me a while to find the guidelines, this pretty much sums it up: WP:ASSESS we are allowed to rate anything up to b-class, including 'our own' articles, after that there's all sorts of process. there's probably more specific criteria for ie bio articles somewhere at that project, will have another look later. keep up the good work, ben.  ⇒ bsnowball  01:13, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Jean Isherwood

Thanks for your contributions! Amandajm 10:17, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

More about Ms Isherwood
She was quite a fearsome teacher, because she was so very exacting. She was quite stout when I knew her and had a florid complexion, a rather long nose and extremely dark reddish-brown eyes with a very challenging expression. Jean didn't suffer fools gladly. But she was an excellent teacher. She was working in a situation which was not at all easy for the older members of the staff whose work was mainly figurative and who teaching depended on older dsciplines. Abstract was in, and figurative was out. I remember being hauled up before the head of the National Art School by a ridiculous Design Teacher who could not concede that a figurative design on a book cover was as revelant to the design process as an abstract one. All that silliness has stopped, thank goodness, but it was hard to live through, at the time.
Jean just did what she did. I believe that she also painted portraits, but I only saw one of them, a magnificent painting of one of her grandchildren that was exhibited in the Royal Easter Show. Anyway, it was quite a privilledge to have been taught by her. Amandajm 03:18, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
