[edit] Janis Ian
Greetings! Just wanted to let you know that I replied to your message at Talk:Janis Ian. It's nice to meet another fan (I assume). Best, --Rkitko (talk) 07:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi again! Well, then I must formally welcome you to Wikipedia. You're doing a great job so far. And as you can see, I've been here for over a year and still don't claim to know everything. So there's always much to learn. Let me know if you have any questions or need direction. You may also want to consider Wikipedia adoption. Some people see that as an easy way to learn the ropes a bit faster with a good guide.
- From what I understand, the colon markup in category and image links is so that we can talk about categories and images on talk pages and in discussion without placing those discussions in the category or placing the image on the page. Let me dig around a bit more in Wikidom and see if I can find some guideline on linking to a category. Once again, welcome. I look forward to possibly expanding and fact-checking the Janis Ian article with you. I assume once her autobiography comes out, we can easily add info and cite sources. But as far as I know, she's basically finished cleaning the house and researching at the moment. Still has to write. (I'm listening to an oldie but goodie, "Photographs" from Night Rains). Best, --Rkitko (talk) 08:24, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Nanaimo, British Columbia
The thing is, CIVI-TV doesn't broadcast terrestrially on channel 12. Its transmitters are in Victoria on channel 53, and Vancouver on channel 17. And if you look in the CHEK-TV article, you'll find its transmitter list, and none of those transmitters broadcast a signal on channel 6, except for the one on Saturna Island, and I don't think the signal from that transmitter even hits Nanaimo. -- Denelson83 16:51, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Adoption
Well, I can adopt you. Leave a message on my talk page if you have any thoughts.

- Yeh what ever floats your boat. Good luck.Sam ov the blue sand 22:09, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Internet radio
The vast majority of terrestrial radio stations these days also stream on the web. If we added Category:Internet radio to every one that does, the category would have thousands upon thousands of entries. A separate category for terrestrial radio stations with web streaming might be justifiable, if you feel the urge to create one, but it muddles things to mix Internet radio services and conventional radio services in the same category. They're two very different things. And if the category currently contains some other terrestrial radio stations, the proper response is to correct that by removing them, not to perpetrate it by adding more. Bearcat 17:42, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Adoption
I can still adopt you if you'd like (it's not very much work at all; my other adoptees have only contacted me once or twice in the few days that I've had them). I noticed that two other editors made offers, though; you might want to ask them.
Anyway, here's some starting advice. Regarding Rumours/Fleetwood Mac, I would advise against directly copying content over from one article to another. You should probably find a way to fit whatever is in the FM article into the Rumours article by paraphrasing and so forth.
If you want to organize your userboxes, try this:
{{Boxboxtop|Userboxes}} {{Userbox 1}} {{Userbox 2}} etc. {{Boxboxbottom}}
That'll create a box like the one on my user page. You may find it easy for organizational purposes to separate each userbox with a separate line. -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 21:05, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 15:23, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adoption
It looks like Goldenglove is on a wikibreak, if not completely inactive, so sure, that sounds great. Anyway, I see you've joined the U2 WikiProject; that's a good start. Too bad that they don't have a to do list up and running yet. Anyway, I also see that you've got Twinkle, which is a great tool. You can view the recent changes list and revert vandalism with it pretty easily. Do you have any other specific questions for me? -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 19:58, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- You can do this by adding some text to your monobook page. This is a copy of what I have:
TwinkleConfig = {
revertMaxRevisions : 50,
userTalkPageMode : 'window',
showSharedIPNotice : true,
openTalkPage : [ 'agf', 'norm', 'vand' ],
openTalkPageOnAutoRevert : false,
openAOLAnonTalkPage : false,
summaryAd : " using TW",
deletionSummaryAd : " using TW",
protectionSummaryAd : " using TW",
watchSpeedyPages : [ 'g3', 'g5', 'g10', 'g11', 'g12' ],
openUserTalkPageOnSpeedyDelete : [ 'g1', 'g2', 'g10', 'g11', 'g12', 'a1', 'a7', 'i3', 'i4', 'i5', 'i6', 'i7', 'u3', 't1' ],
watchRevertedPages : [ ],
markRevertedPagesAsMinor : [ 'vand' ],
deleteTalkPageOnDelete : false,
markWarningsAsMinor : false,
markAIVReportAsMinor : false,
markSpeedyPagesAsMinor : false,
confirmUsernameToAIV : true
};
- The key line there is "markRevertedPagesAsMinor". Normally, 'agf', 'norm', and 'torev' are also present within that bracket, but I only have 'vand' there. You can leave out the other lines if you're not interested in further configuration (I changed some of them from their defaults), but if you are, you might want to check out WP:TW#Configuration. It has some computer jargon, but you can always ask on the TW talk page if you have any questions (or ask me, but I can't guarantee you that I'll know the answer).
- As an aside, that edit you reverted looks like vandalism to me, so I would mark the edit was minor. It doesn't have to be obvious vandalism; as long as it's probably vandalism, I think that suffices. -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 01:42, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- You're quite welcome! Just holler if you have any other questions. -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 03:23, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- If hematophagia is the more popular spelling, then hematophagy should probably redirect there. But if hematophagy is to be the title of the article, then hematophagia should redirect to hematophagy. In other words, there should not be two separate articles. When a page is a redirect, whenever someone types the title of that page into the search box and presses "go," they are redirected to whatever the page redirects to. For example, if you type "Beethoven" into the search box, you will be redirected to Ludwig van Beethoven. Does that make sense?
- You're quite welcome! Just holler if you have any other questions. -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 03:23, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- So if I were you, I would follow the procedure at Wikipedia:Requested moves in order to move hematophagy to hematophagia. In the meantime, you should redirect hematophagia to hematophagy. -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 04:17, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Best of luck wikifying Abeles matrix formalism. Thank you for taking this on. I also have made a request at WikiProject Physics for help working on the article. -- GURoadrunner, fellow member of the Wikification project
[edit] Fleetwood Mac#Fleetwood Mac (white album)
Hey there...Just a heads up... I re-added the link to The Beatles (album) which you had removed. I don't disagree with your edit, however for potential confusion between these two album's names, I thought the link was necessary. I reworded the text for clarity. I trust that you will find this ok. Thanks for your attention to this page. SteinAlive | ☎ | ☉ 06:58, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the message but I do not think that the link was removed by me? My recent edits to that page were just removing some of the vandalism. Yamaguchi先生 03:47, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, the reworked version looks good. Thanks! --Mwalimu59 14:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to the August edition of the U2 WikiProject Newsletter. As you may have noticed, we are now doing themed newsletters. This one (if you haven't already guessed) is How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. Every month the newsletter will have a different theme. There will also be a special edition when the new album is released. Also thanks to Neranei for some of the U2 news.
We have two new members since the start of the month! They are Vero444 and MC. We now have 38 members!
More info from the album page here.
Last month's newsletter incorrectly stated that there were 34 members. This should've been 36. Also, under the "U2 News" section, line 3, instead of saying most recent single it should've said most recent song (this has since been corrected). The editors sincerely apologize for any misunderstandings this may have caused. The correct version of the July newsletter can be found here.
All members of the U2 Wikiproject please note that voting for the next collaboration of the fortnight starts on THE 12TH OF AUGUST. Please visit the collaboration department for more details. |

[edit] Smile!
Joelster has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling at someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Happy editing!
Smile at others by adding {{Smile}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
Sorry it's so overdue, but I've been on a bit of a break. I must say you handled this really well and were amicable throughout. Having thought about it, I was wrong and you were right. Anyway, thanks for explaining the policy to me in a friendly and thorough manner. Cheers, Joelster 04:35, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

On front cover of All That You Can't Leave Behind is a very subtle Biblical reference. In the background J 33-3 can be seen. This is a reference to verse 33 of chapter 3 of the book of Jeremiah: "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and hidden things which you have not known." |
Welcome to the September Edition of the U2 WikiProject Newsletter. The theme for this newletter is "All That You Can't Leave Behind". We hope you enjoy reading it!
Our new members this month are Keeper76 and Jort227. We have now reached 40 members.
