In particular, I'm very impressed with your article on Blue Goose Records. Good work; I've removed the "notability?" tag. DS 14:33, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome

Really nice Takoma page, even if you don't want it on the wiki entry! Now that you're here, any chance you could cast an expert eye over the John Fahey and American Primitivism pages? Felix-felix 21:27, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pitchford

Though I don't see the reasoning of trying to make a page un-viewable to a certain sector of people, I thank you for explaning the URL specifics to me. I did notice that your Wikipedia name is the same as the name of the person who made the discography (you), and I think it's great that an expert like you is working here. Lonnie Pitchford was one of my all time favorites and I'm sorry I never got to see him live (though I've seen him in the several films I've added to the article). By the way, your English is at 95% or more intelligibility for native speakers, in my opinion. Happy editing, Badagnani 08:51, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] So Glad to See You Here, Stefan!

Hello, and thanks for all your work at your own site, and now here. I noticed your addition of the label image to the Rabbit Brown page. That was a nice touch. I hope you stick around and add more information to the many blues, gospel, and jug band pages in the Wikipedia. Yours in blues solidarity, Catherineyronwode 23:32, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Just seconding the comments. As the blues neophyte who started Kokomo Arnold and Scrapper Blackwell, it's great to see a contributor with more than casual knowledge. Also as a Wikipedian who plays close attention to the attribution of images, I was really impressed with your site. Cheers, BanyanTree 21:17, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Samuel Charters

Dear Stefan, I've just created a page on Samuel Charters, someone whose work I admire very much. I've learned more about him after listening to the audio interview. I presume you know more about him, maybe you even know him in person as he might still live in Europe. If you'd like to add anything to the article it would be great. [edit] link to British

Hello, when you want to link to the article about something British, please do not link to British, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as United Kingdom or Great Britain by writing out [[United Kingdom|British]] or [[Great Britain|British]]. [edit] Article about Wikipedia Users

Hello,

Wikipedia user David Badagnani directed me to your user page. I am a freelance writer working on an article about the wide array of people who make Wikipedia their life, their passion, their pastime. Wikipedia “addicts” if you will. I’m looking for people just willing to tell their story of how they got sucked into the intellectual whirlwind that is Wikipedia; how you got started editing, how the obsession grew, and what you spend your time focusing on these days? Do you write articles from scratch? Is your main push toward one particular type of article? Do you patrol for typos and errors, or spend your time diligently fixing vandalism? Do you take part in the “social aspects” of Wikipedia; engaging in animated discussions or decorating your user page with all sorts of internet memes? Have you ever forced yourself to take a “Wikipedia break”? If so, what’s your 20/20 hindsight on the obsession? Basically I’m just trying to get an idea of what it’s like for various Wikipedia “addicts.” If you are interested in participating, please email me at brianwrites@gmail.com

If anybody else, other than this user is interested in participating, feel free to email me as well. This article is intended to be a light informational piece, nothing too heavy or controversial, just merely introducing readers to a subculture that they likely had no idea existed. So please don’t email me with your conspiracy theories, or your grudge against the Wikipedia hierarchy… unless it directly applies to your overall experience with the site. This article is about the USERS, not about the pros and cons of the site itself.

Thanks,

[edit] Snooky Pryor

I recently removed an image you placed in the article Snooky Pryor due to a violation with WP:FU. It states that album covers can only be used as critical commentary on articles dealing specifially with the album in question. I just wanted to let you know about this and that if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Cheers! -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 23:55, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

If you must do that ... (In Germany there's an old saying: 'Tue, was Du nicht lassen kannst' [in English: If you must you must]; myself I prefer an old Asian saying: 'Tue nicht, was Du auch lassen kannst' [in English something like: Don't do what you just as well can avoid doing] StefanWirz 17:19, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding edits made to Arvella Gray

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, StefanWirz! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule \.photobucket\.com\/, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Shadowbot 17:54, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Shadowbot

I made the revert to correct the damage done to the article. Shadowbot has Imageshack on its blacklist for a reason; if an image is necessary, then users should use Special:Upload to upload the image rather than linking to it. Shadow1 (talk) 19:14, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spivey Records

Hi Stefan, I was delighted to notice that a blues scholar is also contributing his expertise to Wikipedia. I recently made some edits on the Spivey Records page. I was surprised that another editor, John Nagle, posted a warning that the entry read more like an advertisement, and he seems to advocate merging Spivey Records with Victoria Spivey page on the grounds that the label is not noteworthy. I like the entry because I bought various Spivey Records in the 1960 and 1970s, and liked the music and the home-made look of the graphics. As you know, it's best to provide verifiable facts that contribute to the entry being regarded as noteworthy. You can read what Nagle wrote, and my response here [1]. If you have any thoughts about facts or events in history of Spivey Records that you can link to authoritative book or web site, I'd appreciate your input. Of course I don't want to inflate the significance of Spivey Records beyond what it is, an interesting small blues label. Best wishes (mit herzlichen Grüßen) Mick gold (talk) 07:01, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mick gold, I just added a few remarks here StefanWirz (talk) 16:49, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:BlueGooseInnerSleeve.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BlueGooseInnerSleeve.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:26, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pink Anderson.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Pink Anderson.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:30, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Germany Invitation

Hello, StefanWirz! I'd like to call your attention to the WikiProject Germany and the German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board. I hope their links, sub-projects and discussions are interesting and even helpful to you. If not, I hope that new ones will be.
