[edit] Who Am I
My name is Steve Cartin. I grew up in Warrenville, SC where one of the things we learned in grade school was the history of the train known as The Best Friend. When I was in the fifth grade, the railroad bed was excavated over a period of several weeks. My friend, Keith, and I spent most afternoons sifting through newly dug dirt discoving mostly old cork top bottles and a few pieces of porcelain dating back to the railroad's era. A sign was placed at the railroad site noting its historical nature as "then longest in the world".
When I accidentally happened upon the article on the Best Friend and it did not contain any information about the railroad's status as longest in the world, I realized that I too had something to share with Wikipedia readers.
I graduated from University of Texas (Austin) with a B.S. in Aerspace Engineering, majoring in astronautica and minoring in flight test engineering. Later, I earned a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.
After a 14-year Air Force career, I have pastored churches in CO, TX, OR, and SC.
