The facts are these: I'm a design engineer/mechanical engineer from the UK. This account was created primarily as a means of correcting the occasional grammar, spelling and factual errors I happened to stumble across, but I appear to have accidentally let myself become more involved with the project than I originally intended. I don't have a particular specialist subject, but I tend to gravitate towards film and television articles.

[edit] Articles I've written
- Appreciation Index - I created this article purely out of annoyance that it didn't already exist, but it did manage to bag me my first Did You Know.
- State of Play - this was originally picked as a personal project in order for me to "learn the ropes", but obsessively checking Google News for updates several times a day soon became the norm.
[edit] Special interest
- Babylon 5 – this is kind of a personal project for me now. It was already a good article when I came here, but it wasn't actually a Good Article, if you know what I mean. This is still quite a way off, but I've slowly been working my way through it to bring it up to the GA criteria. In addition to lots of minor edits, I've made some pretty significant changes so far.
- Michel Thomas – almost as soon as I joined Wikipedia I became embroiled in an edit war which had raged for three years between Roy Rivenburg, a former staff writer for the Los Angeles Times who Thomas sued for defamation in 2001, and Thomas' former Private investigator. Each had his preferred version of the article; each was wildly different in tone and content. Under the P.I., the page offered the now-deceased Thomas as some kind of Nazi-busting superhero; under Rivenburg, he was presented as the Devil incarnate. My own involvement has been to gently, and not so gently, guide the article to something resembling stability. I consider it a vindication that both parties consider my contributions "imperfect," but they seem content to leave alone for now. Let's see if that lasts.
- Changeling – article for a forthcoming film, which I've significantly fleshed out recently.
[edit] Interludes and examinations
- Films I haven't hated this year include: Michael Clayton, Iron Man, The Third Man, Superbad, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Mist, There Will Be Blood, Southland Tales, Zodiac, Casino Royale, Gone Baby Gone, The Nines, Office Space, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Idiocracy, No Country for Old Men, 3:10 to Yuma, The Prestige, Ratatouille, The TV Set, I Am Legend, Charlie Wilson's War, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Live Free or Die Hard (yeah, I know, I was as surprised as anyone), and Knocked Up.
- Films I haven't enjoyed this year include: Cars, The Terminal (everyone involved in this one should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves).
- Recommended current television shows include: Dexter, Pushing Daisies, Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, House, Lost, Bones, Damages, The Wire, Mad Men and, um, Ugly Betty.
- Recommended television shows of the olden days include, but are not limited to: Deadwood, Carnivàle, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Ultraviolet, EZ Streets, Homicide: Life on the Street, NYPD Blue, Murder One and The Shield.
