[edit] Separate article for Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul
Why is there a seperate article on Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul? The "Disciples" were a just a bunch of studio sideman with no real group identity, who changed on each album in SVZ's barely-noticed solo career. Thusfor, the "Disciples" can eazily be incoprorated into the Steven Van Zandt article. 64.12.117.12 17:42, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- I strongly beg to differ on several grounds. First - the original "Disciples" had a group identity, even though it only lasted an album. The core of the group - Van Zandt, Danelli and Bouvoir - WERE the identity of the band for the better part of three years. Second, while it might fit into SVZ's article, it makes sense to keep it separate from the main article because it's almost entirely separate from Van Zandt's main claims to fame (his career in the E Street Band and as a producer).

- I tend to agree with the first poster, in favor of the merge. Mitchberg, your article on the Disciples fails to establish any identity or personality for them whatsoever; it's just a listing of personnel, that changes with each album. You say the core group was together for three years, but what if anything did they accomplish during that time? I own Voice of America, and I saw Little Steven in concert as an opening or benefit concert act several times in the 1984-1987 timeframe, but I gotta say they were one lousy on-stage group(s), playing too loudly and singing too incomprehensibly and foregoing melody almost completely, with little or no stage presence to boot. Whichever iteration(s) of the Disciples of Soul I saw, it had little soul and no followers; audiences generally stayed by the food stands until they were gone. As to your last point, Van Zandt does indeed have multiple claims to fame (you left out Sopranos), but so to do Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Reagan, and many others, all of whose entries cover all these aspects within one article. - I saw the original band - with the horn section and all - in Edinburgh in 1982, touring behind "Men Without Women". Steve is not my favorite frontman of all time ,but I loved the band. MWoW is one of my five favorite records of all time; VoA was a disappointment, and every album after that (up through Revolution, after which I stopped buying) was worse and worse.

- After further reflection, I think I found the best solution. Your LS & Disciples of Soul article was really three album articles in sequence, with a little overview of the whole project. I merged the overview into the main SVZ article and redirected the Disciples of Soul article to it, and then I created three new album articles for each of the albums you wrote up. Those are the appropriate places for the group and additional personnel material that you had written. All make sense? Wasted Time R 02:44, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] More on his musical crusade
I second the suggestion that the picture show Van Zandt as himself rather than the character Silvio Dante.
Van Zandt has dedicated much of his last several years to preserving the memory of, and reviving a taste for, the Brittish Invasion and classic rock of the 50s and 60s--what he has called "garrage rock." He has promoted this on his radio show, "Little Steven's Underground Garrage," and through interviews and his own writing. In the long run Van Zandt may be better known for this work than for his role in the Spranos. Perhaps the entry should devote more attention to his role in promoting garrage rock.

[edit] Steven/Maureen's Wedding
Steven and Maureen were married on December 31, 1982 at the Harkness House in New York City. Little Richard performed the ceremony. See Chuck Cross's book "Backstreets" for more info. but I know this is true from personal contact. Professabecca 04:10, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
