[edit] Alias Controversy

Is David Lucas an alias for Steven Blum or not? ~ Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 20:36, 2005 August 7 (UTC)

It is. At a con, Blum talked about doing both seasons of Big-O, even though the first season is credited to Lucas.

However, this is something that fans and journalists in the anime industry who wish to be respectful of the English voice actor's situations never directly allude to because by revealing the relationships between aliases, it may cause problems for them with the Screen Actors Guild. A little bit of history: Some voice over/dub studios do not have the financial means to pay the union rates for SAG actors, so they are forced to work with non-union actors. However, all SAG actors like to work and will choose to do non-union work, but do it under a name that's not registered with SAG. The studios agree to work under these situations because they'll then get good quality dubs that way, and will never say that so and so is actually a different, SAG-affiliated so and so. The fans accept it because they'd rather see the good quality dubs, too. -TLS

If you goto IMDB's site on him[1] he's listed also as Lucas. Also see RottenTomatoes[2] - Left side says "AKA Steven Blum, David Lucas". Thirdly Eikichi Onizuka from Great Teacher Onizuka english voice is credited to David Lucas - and I know thats the same voice as Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop which is credited to Steven Jay Blum. - ShakataGaNai

so i merged the articles already. we know he's him because he's with the sac now.

[edit] He Who Claims To Be Him

I checked on the IP of that post on main article. http://www.showmyip.com/nl/?ip=66.75.79.135 and it goes out to Woodland Hills, CA. I t is also the only user contribution associated with that IP. Hmm... Sweetfreek 20:10, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

why are you listing steve blum's alisas? He's gona get in trouble now. Good job moron

Alright so, do we keep the information up if it risks Steven Blum losing his SAG position?--155.246.15.34 05:41, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Geico Commercial

Unless I'm mistaken, its not Steven Blum who is in the Geico commercial, it's James Urbaniak.

I added a verification needed tag. I can't find any source to verify his roles in either supposed commercials.209.0.48.138 09:41, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
While I don't generally trust all that I read from LiveJournal, I did find this [3]. In addition, I couldn't find ANYTHING about Blum doing Gieco commercials that wasn't a copy of WP. So I removed it. --ShakataGaNai 18:49, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Well if you're talkin about him as the Geico gecko, that never happened. I think there was one with a cat on a cereal box or somethin for Geico... not sure if it aired though...or if that was him haha —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.225.141.13 (talk) 04:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Marcus Fenix

It says in the article that he voices Marcus in Gears of War, but John DiMaggio is also credited with the role. Who is it?

DiMaggio--Plankton5005 02:30, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Blum was originally cast for the role but DiMaggio was later brought in instead.

[edit] notable roles

Just thought someone should know that under notable roles it says a bunch of Ben 10 characters are from Cowboy Bebop.

[edit] Template

I removed the template since most it's info. is in the article

[edit] "Not to be confused with."

Removed the sentence "He is not to be confused with another Steven Blum who is primarily involved in crew work, having done work on shows such as the U.S. version of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, as well as Attack of the Show! and X-Play."

As it is off-topic, irrelevant, and has nothing to do with Steven Blum the voice actor directly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.56.245.170 (talk) 19:16, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lead Clean-up

  • The sentence "His voice as Wolverine in the X-Men Legends games and Marvel Ultimate Alliance" is improper. Just as well, this information should be limited to his role credits. Legends already exists, as does Ultimate Alliance. Removed sentence from lead. His work as Wolverine in these titles is not more newsworthy than similar game credits.
  • Anyone want to consider whether the notes regarding TOM and 7-Eleven are important enough to take lead space?
  • Fixed formatting in credits under Video Games: Warriors Orochi
--BlueArctos (talk) 00:55, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
I wouldn't consider those roles as lead worthy. Im suprised that his role as Spike in Cowboy Bebop isn't there. Was always one of his more notable roles. Showers (talk) 01:04, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Good point. "Spike" is a commodity, so I'd venture to write that credit up on the lead, however I'm not sure if this should be integrated now or with a complete re-write at a later date. We could remove TOM and 7-Eleven right away, but his lead is already incredibly sparse. I was going record Blum's page as a spoken word entry, but we don't list credits in audio. A sentence or two is a waste of recording space. Soo... --BlueArctos (talk) 01:29, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Succession Box?

Is it standard to have one of these sitting at the very bottom of the page? Seems out of place. --BlueArctos (talk) 01:33, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it's pretty standard. Showers 23:11, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Article Expansion Suggestions

Someone should consider including information from the various interviews with Blum available online. There's good stuff out there. I suggest An Interview Regarding the Digimon Series, A Transcribed Interview with Beau Billingslea and Steve Blum from PlayOnline, and An Insomniac Mania Interview with Steve Blum. Come on out, you dedicated fans! Just keep it wiki.

[edit] "Aliases" Section

The small paragraph follows: "For several years, Blum has used several pseudonyms in non-union productions, the most commonly-known being David Lucas. Blum actively denied that he and Lucas are the same person, stating instead that they are acquaintances. As of 2004, he has unionized and now uses his real name full time." I have no idea what this paragraph means. This needs to be re-written so that someone who has never heard of Steven Blum(myself included) has enough context to make sense of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.202.38.225 (talk) 04:14, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII

I was just wondering if there is a reason why "Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII" and "Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus" are both listed under the video games section, seeing as they are the same game.

Thanks, Miles15 (talk) 06:06, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

No reason?

Okay then, I removed the second listing. :)

Miles15 (talk) 05:14, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Roles

I took out the dead or alive credits (since it's in the wrong section, Anime instead of Video Games, and since it looked like vandalism) and the Guild Wars Nightfall credit in the Video Games section since the male lead is not Steve Blum. From the voice, I would assert that it is Josh Keaton, but that's irrelevant. Also, Steve Blum is not credited for Nightfall. See the credits page on the official website. 130.18.211.201 (talk) 21:23, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Roles Pt 2

Is he going to be in Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.? I thought I heard him on the trailer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.60.228.119 (talk) 01:59, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
