Stewart Aitken

Born and brought up in Dunfermline, Fife. Stewart Aitken attended both the Carnegie Youth Theatre and Burntisland Youth Theatre before studying acting at Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh.
As an actor worked with companies including:
- Purves Puppets
- Wildcat
- Paisley Arts Centre
- Clyde Unity Theatre
As a Director:
- Co - director Puppet Animation Festival (1995 - 1998)
- Associate Director of the Netherbow Arts Centre, now the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Edinburgh (1996 - 1998)
- Artistic Dirctor and Founder First Base Theatre Company (1991 - 1999)
- Artistic Director Borders Youth Theatre (1998 - 2001)
- Artistic Director Wigan Pier Theatre Company (2001 - 2007)
Stewart is currently the Chief Executive of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival.
