[edit] College career
White attended Baylor University, where he recorded 28 wins in four seasons, and earned a Big 12 Conference All-Star nod in 2001. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 18th round following his junior year in 2002, but chose instead to return for his senior year. He was subsequently drafted by the New York Yankees in the 4th round of the 2003 draft, the 124th selection overall.[1]
[edit] Professional career
White began his professional career in 2004 with the Battle Creek Yankees in the Class A Midwest League. After going 5-2 with a 2.65 ERA, he was promoted to the High A Tampa Yankees, where he went 6-2 with a 2.56 ERA in 12 starts.
He started the 2005 season in Tampa, but was promoted to the AA Trenton Thunder after only three appearances. White struggled with Trenton, posting a 2-7 record and a 6.44 ERA in 11 starts.
In November of 2005, White was a member of Team USA Baseball in the CONCEBE Olympic Qualifier tournament held in Phoenix, Arizona.[2] White was starting pitcher for Team USA's second game in which it earned a 9-3 victory over Panama. White earned the win pitching five innings, striking out five, and allowing six hits.[3] Team USA finished the tournament undefeated and advanced to the 2006 Americas Continental Olympic Qualifying Tournament held in Havana, Cuba.[4] Other members of Team USA's roster for this tournament included Jered Weaver, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Howie Kendrick, Billy Butler, Lastings Milledge, and Shane Victorino.
In 2006, White began the season by going 4-1 with a 2.11 ERA for Trenton, earning a promotion to the AAA Columbus Clippers, where he went 4-9 with a 4.71 ERA.
In 2007, White began the season on the disabled list for a "nerve problem in his throwing shoulder."[5] After coming off the disabled list in May, he made two starts with the Tampa Yankees and then was called back up to AAA. White spent the remainder of the 2007 season with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees compiling a 6-4 record with a 3.34 ERA in 16 appearances.[6]
White currently wears uniform number 82.
