Steven S. Reinemund (born April 6, 1948(1948-04-06)) was Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo between 2001 and 2006. Reinemund spent 22 years working for PepsiCo in various capacities. During his CEO tenure at PepsiCo, revenues grew by $9 billion, net income rose 70%, earnings per share were up 80% and PepsiCo’s market cap exceeded $100 billion.[1] He led the acquisitions of several other food and beverage companies including Quaker Oats, Naked Juice, Izze and Stacy’s Chips.

Reinemund is a retired Captain in the United States Marine Corps. He was graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1970 and rose to the rank of Captain before earning an honorable discharge from the corps. Part of his 5 years in the military, Reinemund served as a guard at the White House during the administrations of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.[2]

After leaving the military, Reinemund held various positions at IBM and Marriott’s Roy Rogers division in addition to earning a MBA at the Darden Business School at UVA in 1978. [3]

In 1984, Reinemund joined PepsiCo’s Pizza Hut division (subsequently divested) as the Senior Vice President of Operations. Two years later, he was named President & CEO of Pizza Hut in North America where he introduced home-delivery as a distribution method, overtaking market share of rival Domino's Pizza within 2 years. In 1991, Reinemund assumed the role of President & CEO of Pizza Hut Worldwide. Reinemund then moved to PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division in 1996, serving as President & CEO for 3 years before being promoted to the position of PepsiCo President & COO in 1999. In 2001 the board of PepsiCo named Reinemund Chairman & CEO.[4]

In 2003, Reinemund was elected to the boards of Johnson & Johnson and the Cooper Institute. In 2007, he was named to the boards of ExxonMobil, Marriott International and American Express. Reinemund also serves on the board of the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation.[5]

On April 22, 2008, Steve was named the Dean of the Calloway School of Business and Accountancy and Babcock School of Graduate Management at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, effective July 1, 2008.

Reinemund has been married to his wife Gail T. Reinemund since 1975. They have raised 4 children together. The Reinemunds reside in Dallas, Texas.

He is the new Dean of the combined Calloway and Babcock business schools at Wake Forest University. The announcement was made April 22nd, 2008.

Reinemund is a practicing Presbyterian. He has described the role his faith plays in business as allowing him “to be strong enough that my actions are caring, correct, encouraging, and helpful to others in the success of our business.”[7] For 8 years, Reinemund served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army. He regularly speaks about faith and leadership at religion-organized forums.[8][9]

Reinemund is a registered Republican, having donated to the political campaigns of many notable politicians including Mitt Romney, John McCain and Mike Huckabee. He has contributed to the campaigns of Democrats: Senator Barack Obama and Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, husband of PepsiCo Board member Sharon Percy Rockefeller.[10]
