Steve Weingart

Steve Weingart, born March 1966 in Dayton, Ohio, is an acclaimed Jazz/Funk keyboard player[1] based in Los Angeles, California, USA, who has recorded and performed internationally with an array of well known musical artists.[2]

Amongst many other well known musicians, Weingart has performed live and/or recorded with Chaka Khan, Steve Lukather[3], Frank Gambale[4], Robben Ford, Scott Henderson, Warren Hill, Simon Phillips, Tony MacAlpine, Virgil Donati, Marco Mendoza[5], Dave Weckl, Eric Marienthal, Kenny Rankin, Jimmy Earl, Ernie Watts, Alain Caron, Michael Ruff, Marilyn Scott, Jimmy Haslip, Terry Lynn Carrington, Jason Scheff, Keith Howland, Tris Imboden, John Pattituci, Bunny Brunel, Tom Brechtlein[6], Carlitos Del Puerto, Ray Parker Jr., Jeff Babko, Frank Briggs, Ric Fierabracci, Joey Heredia, Oskar Cartaya, Dave Hooper, Ronnie Guitterez, and Mike Miller.

In September 2007, Weingart announced a new jazz/funk band. The STEVE WEINGART BAND features Steve Weingart, keyboards; Eric Valentine, drums; Jimmy Earl, bass; Kevin Levi, saxophone; Fred Clark, guitar. Steve Weingart's new band performed their first show at La Ve Lee, Studio City, CA on Thursday, September 13, 2007.

During the early part of 2008, Steve Weingart has continued to perform locally in Studio City, CA and tour internationally with Warren Hill, as well as writing and recording with his wife Renee Jones (Bass, Vocals). Weingart will also be touring with Victor Wooten in March 2008, and plans to tour internationally with other Los Angeles session musician luminaries for much of the remainder of 2008.

Steve Weingart performed on Steve Lukather's latest release "Ever Changing Times" which was released in February 2008.

Weingart's musical influences[7][8] include Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, McCoy Tyner, Weather Report Robert Lamm and Chicago (band). Weingart has since gone on to perform and/or record with "Chicago" members Tris Imboden, Keith Howland and Jason Scheff.

Weingart has released two solo albums, Life Times[9] [2001] and Dark Blue Dream[10] [2005]. Weingart also features on Steve Lukather's "El Grupo Live",[11] Dave Weckl's "Multiplicity"[12], Bunny Brunel's "Cafe Au Lait", Jeff Richman's "One Two", and The Howland/Imboden Project. Weingart's band, Nu Alliance, featuring Tom Brechtlein, Frank Gambale & Carlitos Del Puerto are set to record their debut band CD later this year [2007]. Nu Alliance was formed in December 2006, featuring Frank Gambale, Tom Brechtlein and Carlitos Del Puerto. Weingart has recently recorded with Jason Scheff, Jeff Babko and Tom Brechtlein for a fusion project with a working title "Life". Weingart has recently also been recording keyboards for Frank Briggs' most recent project [2007].

Having toured internationally with Steve Lukather's El Grupo, Dave Weckl and Virgil Donati, in recent months [2007] Steve Weingart has toured across the United States and Canada with Warren Hill[13]. Weingart has also performed live frequently[14] at jazz festivals across the United States and at jazz clubs in Studio City, California with artists including Marco Mendoza, Joey Heredia, Mike Miller, Jimmy Earl, Simon Phillips, Eric Valentine, Victor Wooten, Derico Watson, Eric Marienthal, Frank Briggs, Ronnie Guitterez, Hussain Jiffry, Dave Hooper, Frank Gambale, Tommy Lockett, Tom Brechtlein and Carlitos Del Puerto. Steve Weingart's band, Nu Alliance was formed in December 2006, featuring Frank Gambale, Tom Brechtlein and Carlitos Del Puerto[15].

Weingart was born in Dayton, Ohio, and is a graduate of the College Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati, Ohio. Weingart lives in Burbank, California and is married to Renee Jones.
