Stephen Tyrer is a rugby league footballer who plays for St Helens in the Super League. Steve Tyrer is a goal kicking centre or second rower.

In November 2006, Steve Tyrer was promoted to train with the St Helens RLFC first team squad

Steve Tyrer is someone in the words of Harlequins stalwart Tony Rea 'who the whole rugby league community have known about for some time.'

Stephen made a big impact on the first team squad in 2007, making a try scoring home debut against Bradford Bulls, his strong running and goal kicking ability have cemented his place as one of the club's brightest prospects. He has taken advantage of opportunities both in the centres and on the wing. Having made a significant contribution in Saints early win over Batley Bulldogs in the challenge cup, Stephen was given a place in the squad for the first final at the new wembley, although he did not take part in the action, he did receive a competition winners medal.

Having played his first full season as number 24, Stephen has been given the number 22 shirt for the 2008 Super League season.
