Steve Simpson (born 27 September 1979 in Maitland, New South Wales) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Newcastle Knights in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. He has also been selected to represent Country Origin, New South Wales and Australia. His position of choice is at second-row.

Simpson was first selected to represent New South Wales as a second-rower for all three games of the 2002 State of Origin series. Although injuries prevented Simpson from being available for the 2003 and 2004 series, he played in all games of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 series.

Simpson made his test debut in Australia's 64–10 defeat of Great Britain in July, 2002. He also participated in the 2003 Ashes tour as well as the 2006 and 2007 ANZAC Tests against New Zealand.
