Steve Scott (journalist)

Steve Scott is a British journalist, presenting the ITV Weekend News, and occasionally filling in on the ITV Evening News on a Friday.
During the major stories of the last 18 months - when the Tsunami disaster unfolded, when London was awarded the 2012 Olympics and then 24 hours later during the terror attacks on the capital - Steve was at the forefront of ITV's extended live programming.
During 2004 and 2005 he co-presented the weekday afternoon programme on the ITV News Channel.
As ITN's Africa correspondent based in Johannesburg, Steve reported from many troublespots including Rwanda, Congo (then Zaire) and Zimbabwe. Before that posting, Steve was ITN's North of England correspondent based in Leeds and West of England correspondent in Bristol.
During that time foreign assignments took him all around the world to, among other places, Bosnia during the war there and to the United States where he covered as Washington correspondent on several occasions. He interviewed many of the big names of the late 20th century, including Nelson Mandela and Princess Diana.
He also covered some of the biggest domestic stories of the 90's for ITN - the Fred and Rose West murders for example, and Steve was part of the award winning reporting teams that covered the Dunblane school massacre and Diana's death. Steve began his television career at HTV West in Bristol joining as Industrial correspondent from local radio station GWR where he was News Editor and a presenter. He anchors The West Tonight, the main local news programme for ITV West, Monday-Thursday at 6pm.
Between January 2004 and December 2005 Steve regularly presented on the ITV News Channel with Felicity Barr 1600-1730 weekdays as well as providing an evening service alternating between the two presenters. During this period he also presented the sports segment of the ITV News at 10.30 when Felicity was off.
Steve broke the death of the Pope John Paul II live on the ITV News Channel and the ITV Network, and also co-anchored the extensive coverage of the July 7th bombings along with Andrea Catherwood for several hours.
While Andrea Catherwood was on maternity leave Steve regularly presented the Weekend News bulletins and during this period he could have occasionally be heard on BBC National Radio.
In January 2008, ITV launched a new, late-night documentary series, Nightwatch with Steve Scott. The programme makers go on patrol with police forces across the land in the battle against criminals and law-breakers, to expose the hard side of life on the front line with Britain's law enforcers.
Steve is the brother of Setanta Sports presenter, Angus.
