Steve Reed (musician)

Steve Reed is a bass guitarist, singer, and sound man that worked with several Los Angeles-area bands over the past two decades. Although he has played with Legal Weapon, Carnage Asada, the Amadans, the Zarkons, Backbiter and Slovenly amongst others, he is more familiar to fans of Alternative rock and punk for his role as soundman and offstage backing vocalist for fIREHOSE and, after that band's split in 1994, the solo career of their bassist/songwriter Mike Watt. In his touring role with fIREHOSE, he can be heard singing backing vocals on "Mannequin" from Live Totem Pole EP. He can also be seen in Mike Watt's video for "Liberty Calls".

Reed's cousin is former SST Records house producer/engineer Spot.

In addition to playing with Legal Weapon, Steve Reed has toured with Mike Watt with HIPNOTIC BEAT an eclectic Afro Cuban Rock band. Members of the band include Rick Hill (lead vocalist, songwriter, percussionist) Saundra-Ellis Hill (background vocalist, spokenword, artist, songwriter), Jerry the female drummer who also played with Lethal Weapon,(background vocalist, Abrums keyboard player),and Mike Sanford Smith,(songwriter, percussionist, and vocalist).
