Steve Morphew is a British actor. Born 1967 in Slough, Berkshire, he moved to Windsor at the age of 6 and while at school focused on art and drama, this led to a four year OND & HND course in 3 dimensional design at Berkshire college of art and design.

Qualified as a designer, Steve was quickly employed, but just as quickly made redundant. Out of frustration resorted to using his drama knowledge and joined a background agency. The result of which led to an offer of standing in for Bronson Pinchot, the lead in Blame it on the Bellboy, the 1992 film directed by Mark Herman and also starring Dudley Moore. Steve was then asked to stand in for Steven Rea on the 1992 Oscar winning film The Crying Game, directed by Neil Jordan.

Steve's excellent stand in work quickly gained a reputation within the industry standing in for the likes of Robert De Niro in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Sylvester Stallone in Judge Dredd and Chris O'Donnell in Richard Attenborough's In Love and War.

This led to being contracted to specific artistes such as Joseph Fiennes in Shekhar Kapur's Oscar winning Elizabeth and John Madden's multi Oscar winning Shakespeare in Love, Ioan Gruffudd in Andrew Greive's multi Emmy nominated Hornblower series and Michael Apted's Amazing Grace, Jude Law in Kerry Conran's award winning Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Charles Shyer's Golden Globe winning Alfie and Mike Nichol's multi Bafta winning Closer.

Steve's career as an acting stand-in has also been a stepping stone onto credited acting roles of his own including Andrei Konchalovsky's The Odyssey, Kerry Conran's Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Charles Shyer's Alfie and Mike Nichol's Closer.

Most recently Steve played the part of Thaddeaus in The Passion, the latest adaptation of the last days of Christ, by the BBC. Directed by Michael Offer and written by Emmy Award winner Frank Deasy, Joseph Mawle was cast in the lead role of Jesus Christ in the mini series that is to be shown in Easter 2008.
