Steve Kneen (born in Sydney, New South Wales) was an Australian rugby league player for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership competition. He was also selected on the 1978 tour to Britain with the Australian side but never played a game. His position of choice was at Second row forward.

[edit] Early Career

Kneen started his junior career with Sutherland Loftus United in the CSDRFL before moving south to play two seasons in the Illawarra District competition with Helensburg.

In 1976 he was signed by the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

Kneen played in both the drawn grand final in 1978 and the subsequent replay the same year. He was selected on the 1978 tour to Britain with the Australian side.

During the early 1980's Kneen received a twelve-month suspension that looked as if it would end his career. Four years later he accepted a contract with the Illawarra Steelers but a bad hamstring injury in a trial game ended his second professional stint and he retired without making an appearance for the club.
