Steve Kasper

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Steve Kasper (born September 28, 1961 in Montreal, Quebec) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey forward who won the Frank Selke Trophy in 1982. He also served as head coach of the Boston Bruins. Before his short-lived tenure with the Bruins, he was a somewhat successful coach of Boston's AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins. He is currently the head coach of the Yarmouth Mariners.

After his hiring, the Bruins had one of the worst seasons in the franchise's history. In the 1996–97 season, the Bruins were the worst team in the NHL, missing the playoffs for the first time in 28 years. Kasper was subsequently fired.

On May 3, 2007, Kasper became the new Head Coach of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (CJAHL) team, the Yarmouth Mariners.
