Steve Fletcher (born July 26, 1972) is a professional footballer born in Hartlepool currentlt playing for Crawley Town. After a one year stay with Chesterfield, he became a Spireite fans favourite. He spent most of his career at south coast club A.F.C. Bournemouth.
Fletcher began his career at Hartlepool before leaving for Bournemouth in 1992 for £30,000. He spent fifteen years with Bournemouth, recording more than 600 appearance caps and 100 goals.
Fletcher was released by Bournemouth at the end of the 2006-07 season.[1] He subsequently joined recently-relegated League Two side Chesterfield.[2]
At the end of the 2007-08 season, Fletcher turned down a contract renewal with Chesterfield due to family commitments.
On the 23 May 2008 he signed for Crawley Town on a free transfer after not signing a contract renewal for Chesterfield.
