Steve Canaday

Steve Canaday (born 1967, Lansing, Michigan, USA) is an artist based in Los Angeles. Canaday studied at the Wayne State University in Detroit in Michigan earning a BFA in 1998 and graduated with an MFA in painting from the University of California in Los Angeles in 2002.
Canaday's work has shown internationally at galleries including The Hospital in London, Baronian Francey in Brussels, ACME, The project and Black Dragon Society in Los Angeles, Galerie Julius Hummel in Vienna, 1R Gallery in Chicago, and Bronwyn Keenan in New York.
Canaday is part of the hot art scene in Los Angeles, which is currently one of the most booming centers for creative art in the world. Sensational, seductive, raw and beautiful, Canday reveals a fresh, brutal view of contemporary East Coast culture. Rife in the works is an aggressive sense of engagement with the world with particular emphasis on America’s social and political position.
Canday is in the museum collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and FC MoCA Manchester in England.
