Stephen "Steve" Michael Lord Brooker (born 21 May 1981 in Newport Pagnell) is an English footballer who plays as a striker. He currently plays for Bristol City.

Brooker came through the youth system at Watford before joining Port Vale, initially on loan, in January 2001. He signed permanently the following month for £15,000.

In September 2004 he was sold to Bristol City and was both player of the season and top scorer in the 2005–06 season with 16 league goals. In addition, Brooker was appointed club captain in 2005. He is contracted until the summer of 2009.

On 1 September 2006, Brooker was sentenced to prison for 28 days for his part in a nightclub brawl, which also saw team mates Bradley Orr and David Partridge imprisoned.[1] On September 14, 2006, Orr and Brooker were released on license, having served half of their original sentence in custody.[2]

In January 2008 after recovering from injury he joined League One side Cheltenham Town on a one month loan in order to regain match fitness.[3]

Due to a knee injury Brooker made his first appearance for Bristol City in the 2007–08 season on Saturday 29th March 2008, when he scored an injury time header at Ashton Gate to win a Championship match against Norwich 2-1, putting the Robins back at the top of the league.
