Steve Berry (born April 4, 1963) is an English former professional footballer. He was born in Liverpool and currently plays non-league football for Cogenhoe United.
Berry began his professional career with Portsmouth. He played 28 times, scoring twice in the 1981-82 season, but after that played rarely in the Portsmouth side. He joined Aldershot on loan in March 1984 and moved to First Division Sunderland on a free transfer in July 1984.
He made his Sunderland debut on August 25, 1984 in a 3-1 win at home to Southampton, making 34 appearances that season as Sunderland were relegated. He found himself out of favour after the arrival of Lawrie McMenemy as manager and after just one game the following season he was transferred to Newport County in December 1985.
He subsequently moved to Swindon Town, moving again in October 1987 to Aldershot in exchange for Bobby Barnes, who he would later play alongside at Northampton Town. He later played in Hong Kong for Instant-Dict and English non-league sides Kettering Town, Stevenage Borough, Rushden & Diamonds and Bedford Town.
In August 2005, at the age of 42, Berry joined Cogenhoe United as a player and helped them in their historic FA Cup run.
Steve left England early in 2006 for Paris where he works for Michael Page International. In his role as Senior Executive Manager, he specialises in International Executive Search and Selection.
