Sterling Alex Hitchcock (born April 29, 1971 in Fayetteville, North Carolina), is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, and St. Louis Cardinals from 1992 to 2004.
Hitchcock is best remembered for as being the MVP of the 1998 NLCS for the Padres versus the Atlanta Braves. He was the winning pitcher in both of his starts with a 0.90 ERA. Three years later, Hitchcock was the winning pitcher for the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the 2001 World Series.
